Duran Duran sold out everywhere

I will admit I'm a fan of Duran Duran

I never got to see them in concert.

I just found out on the radio today, that they are touring again,
with ALL the original members.

Well, guess what...in three days time.
Every venue, everywhere, no matter what city or state
has sold out.

I checked ticketmaster...I asked for ANY seat.
I'm in D.C....I was willing to travel to OH, PA, even Chicago or San Diego.

There are NO tickets available, at all.

You got to hope that they do a second go-around with this kind of demand,
or at least add dates.

As someone said...I guess I'm not the only fan.

Dear god!!! ALL OF THEM?!?!?!

I thought they hated each other... oh well, all the better for us. Now how the hell am I going to sneak into any of the venues? I better not. They probably have a task force to catch people like me...

Doesn't that suck! I was hoping to see one of the two shows they were doing in Chicago, but nope! I tried to get tix the day they went on sale, and the shows were sold out in, like, 10 minutes or something!

Too bad they are sold out. I would have done a road trip to see them. I saw them a couple of times back in the 80's and they were great. It is amazing that they are all back together, but I guess money can overcome hate.

They're supporting Robbie Williams on his South Pacific tour, that's just sad, Williams should be supporting DD, not the other way around!!! In fact Robbie should be sucking cock in hell.

Amazing...I always knew they were a great band but I didn't think that that many people also thought so...

I missed their NY show, and I'm really bummed. Quadrette is a huge fan. I'm usually on top of these things!

Rogue49 - don't despair! First off, check out craigslist.org for people that may be selling tickets at face value. Second off, often seats will suddenly show up on Ticketmaster during the week of the show (even the day of). At this point, they might be holding seats for record execs, other industry people, etc, and they might release them back into the general pool of tickets. Happens ALL the time. Worst case scenario - show up at the venue on the day of the show and I guarantee someone will be there trying to sell tickets.

I have seen them twice.

Once in 1987 on the Seven & the Ragged Tiger Tour (don't hate me) with all original members and once again a few years ago when they still had Warren Cuccurullo.

I wanted to see them again on this tour, but like you guys I can't it's sold out.

I'm pretty sure this is a small club promo tour right now. The same thing Barenaked Ladies just did.

If this works out, which apparently it has, look to see them expand into bigger arenas.

BTW, I know I have a fire-breathing demon as an avatar and have admitted I like Duran Duran. My sister got me hooked way back when and I still enjoy them

I've heard that this often has to do with sightlines; after setting up the stage, they decide that the "questionable view" seats will actually work, so they release that block.

I'm sure that happens as well. All I know is that, on the day of a concert, I tried for tickets at 10 AM; nothing. At 10:30, I got four second row seats. That's no obstructed view issue - some high falutin' execs decided they'd rather do something else.

My method doesn't always work, but often I can get a pretty good pair or at least a single seat by waiting until the week of the show.

Here's a ticket trick I've learned:

Radio stations and other busisinesses who give away tickets are usualy required, at least here in Michigan, to turn in any unused tickets. The trick is, they usually wait until the afternoon of the concert to let the venue know which ones they didn't use.

That means if you go to the box office the afternoon of the show, there stands a good chance to get tickets, and since they were promotional, they are generally pretty good seats.

I have scored great seats on many of occasion doing this. I walk right up to the front section past all of the people who bought their tickets months ago.

Yeah, I know all the tricks...I'll see if I can use my contacts in SD.
My friends there know everyone, and have a knack in getting backstage passes.

The venue they are playing there would be awesome,
4th & B...very small...great to see them close up.

It would be worth the plane ticket price, to meet them.

Yea, I had a friend who worked in the box office of the local arena here and have been able to get tix to a number of sold out shows the day of the event. It's usaually good seats too, either floor tix or just to the left or right of the stage (depending on the layout of the arena or club).

I'm a long time fan ... and they've only done one gig in Britain (last week?). Tickets were going for a small fortune.

And note for everyone - THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL LINE UP! Its the original charting line up, but Simon wasn't in the original band - Steven Duffy was the original vocalist (Nick did some work with him a year or two back, I think - I had a track Newhaven/Dieppe, which was a bit sucky).

And Warren was in the band for longer than Andy/Roger.

I'd love to see the latest figures for their album sales - for the last god-knows-how-many-years every source has been saying 60 million albums. Which seems kinda low. I'd figure it'd be a lot more than that by now.

Ohh...picky, picky...When I say original bandmembers,
I meant those that were in when they were at the top of their game.

They may have had a couple other members before and after,
and they may have hits after...but nothing beats the group they had with Rio

And that's who's playing.

To be honest, I'm just peeved that they aren't doing a proper tour of their home country.

America are getting a major tour. Oz is getting them with RW. They've done plenty of Japanese shows.

Just one English date? That sucks.

I never got a chance to see them when I was a kid, and it still looks like it'll be a while before I can get to see them.

Kepp your ears and eyes open folks. This is just a small club tour and they most likely will be hitting bigger areans soon.

Well it's amazing what a tax bill will do - one moment you hate someone, the next he is your best mate especially if it means getting lots of money.
