Favorite Internet Radio stations?
* <a href="http://www.DI.fm">Digital Imported</a> - I listen to Trance, Hardcore and Classical there, great music. They have a few other stations, too.
* <a href="http://www.radioparadise.com/">Radio Paradise</a> - A truly amazing playlist, with a great forum for discussing the music. Stuff like Tori Amos, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Everlast... it's very eclectic, but the stuff they play is all great. Anyone else have some favorites? |
Radio Paradise is great, very diverse playlist. Haven't listened in a while but I know they're good.
|
|
The only radio station that I listen too is DI.
I love trance |
http://www.spinner.com/ sorry. I'm not swift enough to do a link. Their abstract beats channel is very nice. So is the Bop and Brit Pop channels....
|
whats a good one for real metal....not growling, mebbe some swedish stuff, and some good ole stuff like Metallica
|
Yahoo LAUNCHcast - Very nice, but I think it's going to a premium/pay service. :(
Classical Music Detroit - Excellent classical music radio station. The best I have found for classical. KPLU Online Jazz Radio Station - Best online jazz radio station I have yet to find. Very nice. Radio Free Virgin - Downloadable program that has a variety of stations, and the ability to "skip" songs. Has album name, artist, and song name all on display in "program window," which is resizable. |
Electric Eye Radio in the Windows Media Player under the classic rock heading is good.Lots of different stuff everyday rather than the same old thing.
|
http://www.live365.com is my portal to countless internet radio stations..
They let you save a favorites list, and search by genre. A nifty feature they have is next to each song played there is a link to save to a "wishlist", and you can look at those files later and look up the artist at your leisure. Also you can click a link next to each song , that takes you to Amazon.com and you can buy their CD right then. Great! |
BassDrive is my personal favorite, www.bassdrive.com , it's good stuff.
|
What? You mean there are other 'Net radio stations besides http://www.di.fm?
|
|
I love 80s music so for me it's www.club977.com (they have a forum too....it's where i heard about this place)
|
I like listening to the classic rock station on AOL radio. They play too much YES though....
|
Goto http://www.kcrwmusic.org and listen LIVE to the actual radio broadcast of their music shows. Morning Becomes Eclectic, Metropolis, Chocolate City, The Open Road, Blueprint, Brave New World, and The Drop are all favorites of mine.
Don't get discouraged though, if you udon't like one program, try listening to another one. There is at least one show for everyone. And they DO have a lot of news programs in the morning and midday (pacific time). Its a NPR affiliate. |

I used to like KPIG, but now they charge you. That's bullshit!
|
BassDrive, Orbital Grooves Radio, Breaks FM, and occasionally DI, I started out with DI about 3 years ago and just heard about some of the others and began liking the variety more. perripken I wasn't aware that KPIG started charging, I haven't listened to them online in about a year. I was back home last month(home is about 30min from the station) and had my radio dial on 107 OINK 5 the whole time :D that KPIG is good stuff.
|
i use www.live365.com most of the time
|
Yes X_Cody_X,
you have to subscribe to Real Player radio one which is 5.95 a month to hear kpig live now. And you're right, they play some awesome stuff. |
www.radioparadise.com
Of course... If Paradise is my location, Paradise must be my station. Or something like that... Anyway, they play great and varied music. I usually listen to it for an hour or two every other day or so. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an internet radio station. |
http://alternative.beonair.com/
I listen to this mainly for the dj's... It's mainly the "new" alternative stuff, but they have a pretty good mix of older harder stuff... Looks like I'll be tuning in to others on this list...:) |
www.shoutcast.com is my old standby (probably like live365.com)
i'll have to check out these others. c_b |
www.knac.com is a pretty good hard music station, they don't play anything real obscure though.
|
Quote:
KNAC rocks! KNAC got it's start as a new wave station in Long Beach CA. They decided to change their format to Heavy Metal during the '80s and never looked back. They can be credited w/ the success of such bands as Guns and Roses, and Great White. They were playing and promoting GNR for at least a year before Appetite for Destruction came out. Anyhow, nice to see that although they are no longer on the airwaves, that KNAC is still rockin in some form. They were a HUGE part of my teenage years! |
i'm surprised no one's mentioned <a href="http://www.somafm.com">soma fm</a>.... they have great channels - groove salad, secret agent.... i listen to those channels all the f'in time.
|

Feeling dirty pimping for Yahoo!tm but I like LaunchCAST. the customizable bit is great.
|
www.kexp.org
Hip indy radio from seattle. |
listening to live 365, thanks for the info. is it possible to save some songs to the hardisk?
|
Every now and then I'll venture over to Soma FM but 99% of the time it's DI.fm
With the new channels they just recently added it's better than ever - I've been listening a lot to the Chillout and Vocal Trance channels lately |
Huh... guess I've just been stuck on Musicmatch Jukebox for so long I didn't realize theres a whole new world out there. I'll check out a few of these stations. FYI -- Check out Musicmatch if your looking for an mp3 organizer along with Radio listening capacity.

If anyone is into good folk, early blues, and world music, I highly recommend www.hober.com for your listening pleasure.
It's the best station to listen to while working, in my ever-so-humble opinion. |
