|

if so, im a bid fan of louis armstrong, ella, charlie parker |
I'm a fan of Sonny Boy Williamson. His stuff was alway really good. There's some other older artists I listen to but I don't know their names.

I've fallen in love with almost any Blues music I've heard. I like the Delta Blues stuff much better than some other types of blues. The Texas Blues is great but a little too hardcore sometimes for me. I like:
The Delta Boys (& Girl) B.B. King Bo Diddley John Lee Hooker Muddy Waters Sonny Boy Williamson Leadbelly Son House R.L. Burnside Koko Taylor Howlin' Wolf (My current avatar and quote) Lightnin' Hopkins Robert Johnson Willie Dixon and more... The Texas Legends Stevie Ray Vaughan Albert King I think Buddy Guy is from Texas, but I'm not sure. and more... Blues Rock The Rolling Stones Led Zeppelin The Animals The Yardbirds Jimi Hendrix John Mayall Derek & The Dominoes and many many more... And as for jazz, they're definitely playing the blues too. I had a thread on here about Martin Scorcese's Blues series on PBS that he just aired. I was a little disappointed with it though. I wanted something a little more linear as a documentary, but the series was more of a experimental project. 7 different directors. Many of them overlapped, which got to be annoying. Great themes though, and good directing on each episode. The Blues is one of those types of music that seems a little intimidating when you first peak your head into it. But its one of the most accessible types of music out there. Because you hear it all the time in almost every genre of music. |
thanks for the feedback. Ill check some of that stuff out.

I don't listen to much old-school blues (early 1900's), but I'm a fan of the blues.
Stevie Ray Vaughan Roy Buchanan The Black Keys (great stuff, find them on tour if you can, or atleast grab and album) Albert King Indigenous John Mayall (esp with Clapton) |

I'm really liking the Black Keys. I saw Indigenous open up for Johnny Lang a while ago and they were incredible. Good recommendations merc... |
Keb Mo is my latest discovery. Really good.
I like lots of other blues. Too many to type. |
Lamont Cranston
James Solsberg Hoopsnakes |
R.L. Burnside is great. I especially like "Wish I was in Heaven, Sitting Down."
|
Chris Smither
The Black Keys (absolutely fantastic) |
Aahh, the Yardbirds. I had almost forgotten about them. What a fantastic history for a band to have.
Keb Mo' is truly incredible. So is Chris Thomas King, who played Tommy Johnson in O Brother Where Art Thou? When he plays "Hard time killing floor blues," I want to cry. |
