pink floyd the wall 2000

i went into best buy the other day, trying to get the wall, because it is one of the few classic cds i do not have. all they had was the wall 2000, so i figured it was one of those rereleased digitally enhanced records, so i got it. i pop it in my cd player . . . what the hell is that crap. imo they ruined that cd. any of you heard it?

HeAtHeN 10-07-2003 08:22 PM

No... tell me more though. Is it a re-mix? Who did it? I bet it was that bastard Waters... :(

ledhead 10-07-2003 08:34 PM

yeah it like a remix. its by "out of phase", whoever the hell that is. they redid everything all the guitars, drums, everything is redone.
i think the group who did this is from denmark. the record label is hypnotic records and the address is in denmark.

and no, i do not think roger was involved.

It's a trance/rock "Tribute" CD. I'm a huge PF fan with a number of Tribute CDs, but based on what I have read and heard about this one, I've avoided it.

anti fishstick 10-07-2003 10:48 PM

YES! my parents got me it for my birthday and i rejected it. i since sold it to a local record store. i was so upset. i wanted the REAL wall not some copout tribute. but it's all good cos they got me the real wall for my next birthday :D i'm so spoiled. heh.

*Tributes* are for loser bands that can't do anything original.

Even more disapointing when you expect the real thing...

fuzzix 10-09-2003 07:57 AM

This is the first I've heard of this, sounds hideous, I'll avoid it like the plague.

I have the electronica tribute double CD and the Us and Them symphonic Floyd CD, but never heard of this one. Sounds awful

Spartak 10-09-2003 09:15 PM

Bah, why do people keep trying to butcher Pink Floyd ? :(

Althoug on a sidenote the best tribute CD I've heard was "Third Eye Open", a string tribute to Tool, basically a string quartet covers well known Tool songs, sounds pretty good actually :)

I've got that too, and I agree that it's pretty good.

yeah string renditions are really cool. i especially like apocalyptica's metallica covers :-D

Pick up Echoes of Pink. Female folk/acoustic artists doing Pink Floyd. I love it and it puts a new spin on the thier songs.

There is a band called Luther Wright & The Wrongs who redid The Wall as bluegrass. They had pretty interesting interpretations.

Flesh 10-10-2003 07:50 PM

The Wall rocks.

Kaos 10-12-2003 08:54 PM

There is no good reason to redo The Wall.

I'm all for "tributes" for those that want them (not me!)

BUT

When they package them in a way so as to trick people into buying them thinking its the original, my eyes go all bloodshot and I get a disturbing twitch in my knife hand.

I bought a Hendrix CD last year that made no mention that it was a tribute until you used a magnifying glass. Same cover graphics, same everything, just....not....same.....music
