Well, I give up, I have searched the net in vain.

What does "come undone" mean?????


Like in "She's come undone" with The Guess Who.

It's become quite a popular line in resent lyrics, and I just don't get it. Is it, like, she returned without being able to do what she aimed for... or what?

Some of my friends thinks it means that she died, but that seems unlikely to me.

Buggers... help out will ya!

Think of it this way. If you lose control, be it with anger or depression, you come undone. It is more simple than you are making it. If your life is your hand with an apple and you let go, it falls apart. Your grip has come undone. Just simplify it.

So then , it would be one of those expressions that could mean a number of things (hence its popularity), like:

She's depressed
She's lost her grip on things (lost control)
She's got undressed (like with her buttons undone)


That's it then?

I would go with 'She's lost her grip on things (lost control)' for most situations. From there depending on the context. But yes, you've got it now.

This is a good example of a song about someone coming undone. "She's Lost Control" by Joy Division. Don't know why I'm posting, maybe because it is the first song I thought of when reading this thread... besides the Duran Duran song, anyway.

Yeah he's right if you wanna know the meaning it's right there in the lyrics. She's Come Undone basically means she's lost her mind, overexerted herself, tried to do too much.
