there was a mitsubishi commercial not too long ago where a guy was in his car seeming to be jammin on a song, but when we see inside the car hes repeating a list of items to buy. does anyone remember the song?

i believe it said "electri-FY" numerous times
almost indie/ new-new-wave sound.

You might have luck with this person's insane page, which I found through Adtunes.

...no, wait, I got it: Best Spot of the Month from Adweek. The song is "Dance to the Underground" By Radio 4.

Mantus 11-17-2005 07:11 PM

Hey people, this one will probably be easy. I tried various searches and came up with nothing

The song has a pop'ish grarage rock sound.

The main chorus is:

Do you ever say what you mean
You are so 1989
1989
1989 (I think it repeats thrice)

Thanks!

I can only think of "1985" by Bowling for Soup.

I'm trying to find the theme music that played during the highlights on ESPN's NFL Primetime...

If you're a viewer of the show, you know what I'm referring to.

It's an instrumental piece and can't really tell what instruments are played in it [it's an orchestrial/classical piece].

I'm pretty sure it was made just for the show, but I'd at least like to know the name of it. I've searched on google and itunes and nothing came up. [However, if you're searching for the classical music that they play on ESPN's NFL flims, which shows vintage super bowl highlights, it's available on iTunes.]

Thanks,
keyshawn

EULA 11-29-2005 07:13 AM

ok, my turn. I was at ucb in new york and heard a song by jay-z that had a guy in the mix singing in a different language and sounded kinda arab.

It could be on the page Sport Show Themes Available (A-Z). There's a few zipped ESPN-based themes on there. I didn't try to download them, so it could be virus-laden for all I know.

keyshawn 12-09-2005 08:22 PM

here's another song I just heard on the radio [i forget which station too] and I can't identify it !

had the line in the chorus: it's been a long long time

and later on had 'what does the world view of me' 'america as the most powerful of all' 'like a 15 year old waving a gun in their face'
the last line may not be verbatim, but it's pretty close.

Song has one male voice, sounds mainly alternative rock, but with a twinge of possibly country/folk.

thanks,

EDIT: After doing more searching on google, I've found the song. It's 'long long time' by Guy Forsyth

I was going to ignore you for the "stupid 80's" comment, then I listened, and agree :D . Unfortunately, I can't remember it either. It isn't "Walk the Dinosaur". Or "Life in a Northern Town".

Charlatan 12-12-2005 10:30 AM

No... it isn't "Walk the Dinosaur", which was by Was not Was. This is something else... I can remember the video.

Give me a second to think. (It's Tarzan Boy... see below)

Charlatan 12-12-2005 10:33 AM

Tarzan Boy by Baltimora

Quote:

Baltimora
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
(4X)
Jungle life
I'm far away from nowhere
On my own like Tarzan Boy
Hide and seek
I play along while rushing cross the forest
Monkey business on a sunny afternoon
Jungle life
I'm living in the open
Native beat that carries on
Burning bright
A fire the blows teh signal to the sky
I sit and wonder does the message get to you
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
(4X)
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other chance
tonight
Gimme the other, gimme the other
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other world
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
(4X)
Jungle life
You're far away from nothing
It's all right
You won't miss home
Take a chance
Leave everything behind you
Come and join me
Won't be sorry
It's easy to survive
Jungle life
We're living in the open
All alone like Tarzan Boy
Hide and seek
We play along while rushing cross the
forest
Monkey business on a sunny afternoon
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other
Chance tonight
Oh Yeah
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other
Night to night
You won't play
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other
Chance tonight
Oh Yeah
Night to night
Night to night
Gimme the other, gimme the other
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
(4X)
(Repeat)

robitussin 12-12-2005 11:35 AM

hey thanks for all the help I appreciate it. And i meant it was a stupid 80s song, not pretaining to all 80s songs, sorry about that.

According to my Punjabi pal, this is all the rage in India and gaining huge ground over here. These Punjabi artists are remixing rap tracks with some Indian vocals and instrumentation.

He has approximately 4000 songs on his computer done in the way you describe.

robitussin 12-13-2005 07:20 PM

I think the song you are talking about is by Punjabi Feat. Jay-Z called "beware of the boys". Also this guitarish-sound type of music is called bhangra, i think.

I am trying to find out what song is played in the new Chrylser 300C commercial. It just aired during the first quarter of the Patriots/Bucs game.

The song sounds like hip hop, with electronic synthetics. There are no lyrics in the commercial.

Any ideas?

I can't come up with anything. Adtunes.com doesn't have it. BBDO and Pentacom (two of Chrysler's ad agencies) don't list it. You might try emailing Chrysler or BBDO or something.

keyshawn 12-29-2005 03:17 PM

I'm actually not trying to find a song, per se, but I recall hearing on the radio about some very funny Comedy/prank/spoof tapes that circulated awhile back in the 1980's, called the 'cooper tapes.' [not sure if that was his last name, but i have a hunch it is]. I also remember hearing that these tapes, who were made by this cooper guy, compiled the best gags and prank phone calls that he received over the year and are really good.

I'd just like to hunt one of these down and take a listen to them :)

[I'm not asking where to find them, but what the title of these tapes are and if anyone can give me more information on them]

regards,
keyshawn

EDIT: after doing a bit of searching earlier today [I completely forgot about this thread until I saw a new post],
I'm pretty sure the comedian is Pat Cooper.

Sp0rAdiC 01-26-2006 06:09 AM

Hopefully I can get what I'm looking for here. I was on the way back from dropping my girlfriend off at the bus this morning, and I heard a song come on the radio. I later realized it was a christian radio station.

The song had the lyrics "She is mine, she is loved"(mighta been other way around) in it, and I'm pretty sure they said it was by FFH.

I looked through all the lyrics I could but I can't find that song. I'd be very grateful if someone could help me out. Thanks!

mystmarimatt 03-09-2006 03:02 PM

I just recently heard this song where an amazing old blues piece is remixed as an R&B/Dance song. Any suggestions?

I know there's a series of prank calls that circulated widely on cassette tapes in the 80's known as the Mark Knopfler tapes. The guy would prank call people and use the pseudonym Mark Knopfler (the name of Dire Straits' singer/guitarist, although I don't think there's any reference made to the band or music in general; it's just the name he uses). Don't know if this might turn out to be what you're looking for, but here's a link to a page that I believe has some MP3s of some Knopfler calls:

Anyone know the song from the pepsi commercial where they start dancing?

We're going to stop by a convenience store my friend works at and turn it on whenever someone drinks a pepsi

skier 03-28-2006 11:06 PM

just incase someone decides to look for this song, i've since found it.

"Streamline" by Newton

and I just realized I could have edited my other post :|

Jadedfox 04-07-2006 06:11 AM

I just heard this song on the radio the other day but unfortunately they did not mention who it was sung by. It's male vocals and an acoustic guitar sort of like Jack Johnson but more toned down and sad.

The only lyric I managed to remember was

"She couldn't care less, wearing that dress
Pretty little thing"

I'd be happy for any leads or ideas you guys may have :D

Cheers,

Derwood 04-07-2006 04:35 PM

I googled those lyrics and got nothing. You sure you have them right?

Jadedfox 04-08-2006 06:12 AM

Yep I googled as well couldn't find a thing but I'm sure those were the lyrics. It's a tough one :(

Temporary_User 04-26-2006 06:48 AM

im looking for a song. I heard it @ a pub that had a DJ going on for the day. The DJ was playing everything from madonna to snoop.
I was too shy to go ask the title of the song though.
Anyways the song is very slow and mellow. I think it was anyways, of course the DJ made it a bit more dancey. the only lyrics that I can remember is the chorus or just part of the song I believe goes "call my mother, call my mother"
it could also be kill instead of call.
also could be brother instead of mother.

Sorry I know im working w/ nothing here, but I think its a fairly new song out there.

Martian 04-26-2006 07:19 AM

Jadedfox: I'm almost entirely sure the song you're looking for is Pretty Little Thing by Fink. All I have to say is good luck finding it; if you're determined, the album featuring that track (titled Biscuits For Breakfast) is available on Amazon and what little I've managed to get my hands on is pretty good stuff.

Temporary_User: Can you say anything else at all about the track? Even describing the vocalist's voice would be handy... right now I could make a couple of suggestions but given how vague you are on the lyrics I'd be pretty much grasping at straws.

Temporary_User 04-26-2006 07:38 AM

hmm, very soft... male. almost female sounding.
although I havent heard much of them, im almost thinking like a death cab for cutie sounding guy.

EDIT: i dont know if im making this harder or not, but it could also be "tell my mother"

Temporary_User: It's a long shot, but the best I can come up with is Good-bye My Lover by James Blunt, who's currently doing the top-40 thing with You're Beautiful. I wouldn't say Blunt sounds much like Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie), but he does seem to meet the criteria (namely, an effeminate sounding male singer who sings slow ballads). And "good-bye my lover" might be misheard as "call my mother."

Like I said, it's a long shot and I somehow doubt that's the track you're looking for, but it's worth looking into.

Temporary_User 05-04-2006 07:46 PM

Martian, thanks for trying. the funny thing now is that it has been so long since I heard this song that I dont even know if that is it or not.
I dont think it is, that seems like a real slow song, that even a dj couldnt even make it more upbeat.
I guess this song will have to go down as a good song that I shall never hear again.
thank you so much for trying though!

Jimellow 05-07-2006 07:46 PM

I heard the following song in a football video compilation online. I'd appreciate it if someone that is familiar with it could tell me the name and/or performer.

The MP3 of the song can be found HERE.

I also would appreciate it if anyone could provide me information on the following techno beat song. I heard it in a shockwave game, and thought I had heard it before somewhere, but can't place it. That song can be found HERE.

Thanks.

Kinda sounds like Nightwish. Certainly metal + orchestra. I don't know them well enough to identify it, though.

Jennifer Lopez sampled the song Watch Out Now by the hip hop group Beatnuts for Jenny From the Block. Maybe that's the song you're thinking of?

EDIT - Here's a clip.

k_pressy 05-25-2006 01:34 PM

Martian

unfortunately its not :( it starts of with the same bit "children grow and women producing" up to "everyones got to make a living", and then it goes into a beat with some instrumental, and then someone starts rapping. Its really annoying me now cos nobody knows what it is

I've been unable to track down any song that samples Jenny From the Block, but there have been a few remixes. You might try looking for the LOX remix and see if that's the one you want.
