Crazy_Man 04-08-2004 01:09 PM

OK I am back. I heard another song on the radio, it's against classic rock. The thing is there really aren't any lyrics it's more of a guitar and some yodelling or something. The guitar is very distink. It goes something like this: Nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah, nah, nah, nah, nah nah

It's with a guitar, if someone gets it you are a god, it's seem very vague, maybe I will think of more

Redlemon 04-08-2004 01:15 PM

"Nah nah nah"? My first thought would be "Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin" by Journey. The entire last half of the song is simply "Nah".

Crazy_Man 04-08-2004 01:40 PM

Nah, it has no singing almost what so ever, it seems like the only thing that comes close to lyrics is some sort of yodelling. The nah nah part is how the guitar beat goes. I don't know how to many a guitar beat with letters, so i just did the beat as it came to my head, and used commas for the breaks between guitar "rests".

Crazy_Man 04-08-2004 01:46 PM

I think it's Focus - Hocus Pocus

Crazy_Man 04-08-2004 01:48 PM

HAHAHA
I did it myslef, thanks anyways man.

ChickenNinja 04-08-2004 05:18 PM

OK, another song from another movie. Walking Tall (or possibly Hellboy, I saw them both the same day) had a version of Blue Monday with a woman vocalist. Does anybody know who it was?

essendoubleop 04-15-2004 09:43 PM

Can you guys figure out these tunes:

1)What's the backup song being used for the beats to "The Zealots" by the Fugees?

2)What's the MIDI-ish beat used in the background in the song "I'm Kurious" by Kurious George?

bltzkriegmcanon 04-18-2004 12:17 PM

Hey guys, I don't really think that this belongs in this thread, but I'm gonna ask here anyways. I'm looking for a song by Paul Oakenfold called "See It." The only time I've ever heard it was during Frequency, a game for the PS2 by Harmonix. If anyone can help me find this song, I'd be extremely grateful.

Thanks.

Got a stumper for you, not a what song, but a what artist- recently, ie last few years, somebody did a version of the old country song, el paso, by Marty Robbins, as a fast, punkish or maybe metalish remake, desperately want a copy, but don't know who sings this version- any help would be great......

According to my sources, this song has been covered by:

Old 97's
Giant Sand
Grateful Dead
Butthole Surfers
Don McLean
Kirsty MacColl
Meat Puppets

Have fun figuring out which one you want! I'd start with the Meat Puppets.

Again, based on my sources...

Orgy
DJ Dan
Times
Flunk
Nada Surf
Kylie Minogue
Transona Five
Flipside
DJ Pebbles
David Lashmar
Swan Lee
Plastikman
Television Personalities

I'd try Kylie or DJ Pebbles first.

bltzkriegmcanon 04-19-2004 10:27 AM

Ok guys, I've got another one. You know the song that plays the exact moment before the Crazy 88 fight in Kill Bill, not Ironside, but the other one that plays when the Bride cuts off Sophie Fatale's arm. That song. Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT:

Alright, I managed to find out the name of the song, it's Ennio Morricone - From Man To Man.

But does anyone know where I can get it from?

EDIT v2: Man I'm stupid. That shit is on iTunes.

We just lucked out; kl0pper posted the lyrics in the The I hate rap post. The answer is "Alphabet Aerobics", by Blackalicious.

ShadowWraith 04-22-2004 04:02 PM

Does anyone know the name of a punk song played on a mountain biking video with the lyrics that starts with:

It all started with a thunderclap, i'm breaking waving, traveling up to my knees, floating away

and a chorus that goes like:
when i close my eyes it makes midnight shine blue
riding away that brings me closer to you
if i fall i wonder if i could ever get up again
take me to a place far away...

Thanks for any leads.

Eviltree 04-24-2004 09:12 PM

Looking for the artist of a song. I think the song is called "bad luck" I've heard it on much music, and CBC 3. THe video for it involves a teddy bear and a doll, and its messed up. there is some sort of radiohead-esque guitaring in the background. I think the chorus goes "you'll never know where I go when you're not around, yo'll never, ever know. " Any help would be appreciated

***Edit - I have finally found the artist, I suggest you listen to this song, its pretty cool "bad luck" by royal city

noahfor 04-27-2004 01:44 PM

I'm looking for a song. I know it came out 7 years ago. It was played on "alternative rock" radio, and then I think it made it onto the pop radio stations. It had like a latin feel or sound, and it was about driving or a road trip. It came out right before "How Bazaare". The song is not "you let me change lanes while I was driving in my car whoever you are". I've been looking for it forever.

How about The Men - Church of Logic Sin & Love. It was mostly narrated, with a sung refrain.
Quote:

They weren't surprised by the wind and rain
They took off anyway -- east, I think that's what they did
They were just two of the wildest, bored creatures on earth
Fed up with work, strip bars and loneliness galore
In an old oldsmobile that one of them bought off their father
They ate up so much road -- they was grinnin'
(Then they came upon the thing)

chorus
This is real -- this is now
This is the freak show baby anyhow
On the church of logic, sin and love
Heals the curious magic soul
Big top drama from head to toe
Cactus, venom, rodeo
On the church of logic, sin and love

Two hours later they decided to stop at a diner
Because they loved the smell of eggs and coffee
I just had to smoke a cigarette and wear a hat
By the time that they set off again, the sun was starting to set
It made the sky look red like a nuclear ray
One of them said "what do you want more than anything
in this whole wide world
Do you want mokey, do you want sex, or do you want all that succes?"
I thought about that myself
(Then they came upon the thing)

chorus

The thing ahead sixty miles, do no miss
Not for the squeamish or depressed, not for the unbelievers
Truly obsessed -- something you just don't wanna miss
It's the kind of place where space explorers could have landed
Around 1963 -- when John F. Kennedy was in Life Magazine
And everything was aqua marine, aque marine

chorus out...

I can't find that song on kazaa so I'm not sure. I don't remember the lyrics, and I think I knew the lyrics to the song I'm looking for. However, the song I'm looking for is structured exactly like that one. 3 verses detailing a rode trip, and then chorus in between. That probably is it, but I'd have to hear it. Thanks.

I thought of another one: The Way, by Fastball:
Quote:

They made up their minds
And they started packing
They left before the sun came up that day
An exit to eternal summer slacking
But where were they going Without ever knowing the way?
They drank up the wine
And they got to talking
They now had more important things to say
And when the car broke down They started walking
Where were they going without ever knowing the way?
CHORUS:
Anyone could see The road that they walk on is paved in gold
And It's always summer, they'll never get cold
They'll Never get hungry
They'll never get old and gray
You can see their shadows Wandering off somewhere
They won't make it home
But they really don't care
They wanted the highway
They're happier there today , today

The song you're looking for is "Whoever You Are" by Geggy Tah.

"All I wanna do is to thank you, even though I don't know who you are, you let me change lanes while I was driving in my car...."

Actually, for some reason I can remember that song, and I was going to write that it isn't that song, but it's from about the same time. Red lemon probably had it with the first one, but I don't know.

I have another one. It's the only choir type piece of music as ubiquitous as carmina burana. They play it on movie trailers and such, and ads. I think it might be on a redman song even.

I have a tendency of making an ass of myself sometimes. I now see that you typed that it wasn't that song....another dumbass moment for me. Sorry about that.:)

If you can name a single advertisement, check out this site: Adtunes.com > Find TV Commercial Ad Music.

noahfor 05-06-2004 01:04 PM

I think maybe Armageddon, or an old add for the navy, but that site doesn't go back far enough.

Redlemon 05-06-2004 01:15 PM

Here's the Armageddon trailer:
http://www.movie-list.net/classics/armageddon.mov

There's a bit of a cappella at the beginning, but it sounds pretty generic to me.

noahfor 05-06-2004 02:13 PM

Yea, thats not it. Maybe it was just on a small tv commercial for it. It is the equivilant of carmina burana. #2 on the list of that kind of songs.

2nd background riff used in the song "Fuckshop" by 2 Live Crew. It's comes on right after the Sweet Child o'mine riff.

AsianJesus 05-17-2004 07:43 AM

2nd background riff on "Fuckshop" is "Ain't talkin about love" by Van Halen.
that's followed by a sample from "Little Bit Of Soul" by Music Explosion

prosequence 05-22-2004 08:08 AM

I'm looking for the actual song or artist.
It's title is probably "Edelweiss", a UK mix (dancey) done from the song in "the sound of music". Late eighties possibly early nineties.
Any help appreciated

Not Normal 05-24-2004 02:40 PM

is it the version with yodeling on it? That was so cool. The song title is "Bring Me Edelweiss" and the band is Edelweiss.

StormBerlin 06-01-2004 10:21 PM

K, so I need to know either the song title or the person who sings this song I heard on the radio the other night. It's a mellow song about a woman wanting to kill her boyfriend. The lyrics have something in them about "I could do it in the water" ?? Or something like that. The whole song is about her plotting to kill her boyfriend and how she would do it and what emotions she would be going through. It's an interesting song and it's bugging me because I can't figure out who it is :)

Ace_O_Spades 06-04-2004 05:25 PM

It's an 80's rock song that has this as it's main line (it is said fairly fast)

"come on baby light my candle cuz ....."

i cant remember the rest

Ive been looking for years, i cant find it.. help! I will bow down to thee who helps me

nash 06-05-2004 03:31 PM

This is a classic rock song from 1968. I think it's somewhat popular, and I'm pretty sure a "modern" band covered it somewhat recently. I think the chorus goes pretty fast, that you can only catch some of the words if you know what they are saying. There's a hint of reggae in it that I don't think the cover copies. I remember that the voice is a black guy with a gruffy sounding voice.

Please help me :(

Latch 06-12-2004 07:47 PM

It may be hard to identify this one.. as I'm not sure if it's Australian or International.

Basically, it's a guy singing (like boys-2-men type voice) to an ex-girlfriend (I guess). I think it's about how he was hurt by her or doesn't need her anymore. There's music, but it's pretty much his voice that makes the song. It's fairly new (here in Australia), so that means it could be a month old in the States. It's starting to get a bunch of airplay. I can't remember any actual lyrics, but I remember thinking that the song sounded like a normal little soft love song.. until you listened to the lyrics and they were semi-lewd. Not what you'd expect .

Any ideas? Please? It's driving me nuts.
