Joe Satriani - Summer Song

Every single person on this board has heard that song somewhere.. I promise you :)

Oh yeah. I like the 'Live in SF' version best.

I'm looking for one that I heard for a while on the radio, and then it dropped off the face of the earth. It's country. Here's a small part I can remember:

'...I walked up, and asked her for a dance
"That's good" (in background)
No, that's bad,
'cause I tripped and knocked the drink right out of her hand..."

Redjake 02-08-2004 07:23 PM

I've been looking for a song for about 4 years now, I remember it from a while back, but I don't know the name. It was alternative/rock, and it had the chorus "what are you deaf and stupid, she said no" in it. the guy really stressed "no." he said "nooooooo." and I can't find this damn song. the lyrics I suggest may not be the exact lyrics, I've tried lyric search engines and have scoured google for it, but nothing comes up. ANYONE who can find this song, you get ONE TRILLION cool points.

Prince 02-13-2004 02:29 PM

Whose song and what is it called, the one with something about a "mrs robinson" and "Jesus loves you more than you will know" or "I can say" or something?

I know it's not much to go on with but it is a popular song....an old one.

BoomTruck 02-14-2004 06:49 PM

Simon and Garfunkel- Mrs. Robinson.

I'm trying to find the original version of the song that the Freestylers basically remake as "Drop the Boom". It's from the skating parties I remember in grade school. It's got the robot-like voice, and I can't think of the original title.

It's Don't Stop the Rock, it's by the Freestylers as well, they remixed their own song.

CinnamonGirl 02-25-2004 06:58 AM

Newer song out-- goes something like "why don't you and I" ...and then something about taking on the world together? I know, that's really vague, but I've only heard it twice... it sounds like matchbox twenty, but I went through every lyric on the new album and couldn't find it...

"Why Don't You And I" by Santana featuring Chad Kroeger from Nickelback

Mojo_PeiPei 02-29-2004 07:57 PM

I'm looking for this song... lyrics aren't too telling chorus is "ohhh I want you". The thing that makes the song stand out is the guitar however. It has a George Harrison slide sound to it, really slow paced and melodic. Song is classic rock genre.

Ah, thank you. Why is it every (newish) Santana song is "featuring" someone else? Just trying to appeal to a younger crowd, I guess?

bigbad 03-01-2004 10:28 PM

Well, I hadn't heard of Santana until he started doing the "featuring" someone else, so if that was the plan it worked like a charm :)

My song was released approximately 1997, and got airplay on 'modern alternative rock' stations. The only thing I recall was the male vocalist, in the refrain, singing "get down on your motherf***ing knees", but the radio version was chop edited so it had a really neet "on your n-n-n-n-knees" effect. Any idea what this song was?

Hey I need the name of song, I hardly ever listen to rap and need it for a project but it is where the rap artist says, "Underage drinking is bad, Hey man! I got a fake ID!" Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Tophat665 03-11-2004 06:36 PM

Looking for a jazz standard, the one that containjs the line "so go do that voodoo that you do so well". It's the one that Harvey Korman quotes in Blazing saddles, and I know there have been a couple of commercials made with it. I need to title because this is one that I want to try to find a couple different versions of.

Okay, I'm trying to find this song from the David spade movie. It's the song he's singing when he's in the convertible and he changes the words and says something like "changing the words, but not changin the meaning." or something like that. I think it plays again sometime in the movie but don't remember.

Help, this is driving me nuts. It's not on the soundtrack, I already checked.

Thanks,
Jadey

Appears to be by Cole Porter:
"You Do Something to Me" has some history on it as well.

I had to figure out which movie you were talking about first, I knew the scene you were talking about I just couldn't remember the details though. Then I was sitting on the can and BAM! it hit me, check if it's Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, it is probably that.

Nope that's not it either. It's a late 70's--early 80's song I think.

Seer666 03-21-2004 10:15 PM

Got an odd one for you all. There is one guy who does all his songs to the preprogramed beat that comes on the old casio keyboards. He is also mentaly retarded. He had one song I think was call "I kicked Batman's Ass". Funny, funny stuff. Anyone know his name?

Could it be the Bob Dylan song "I Want You"?

That'd be everyone's favorite schizophrenic street musician Wesley Willis.

He died last year from leukemia.

Crazy_Man 03-22-2004 08:28 PM

Didn't see this.

The song is very mellow. The singer isn't loud. I can't hear any loud guitar or even a drum line, maybe a piano.

All I know as it's a slow singer with a mellow voice, and not much beat but that do do or du du, i dont know what to use really

He sings that a bit in the song, i wish i had more to say.

Let me try and get the whole beat out, but damn it hard with words

du dudu dudu du dadu dudu dudu

Something like that, gesse it can be like anything.

I heard it on Chom which is a classic rock station up here in montreal. Anyways anything you can think of would be great.

Booray 03-22-2004 08:37 PM

If someone is actually singing the "du dudu" stuff, it might be Lou Reed - Take a Walk on the Wild Side. But if that's just the beat, that's probably not enough to go on.

It might not be on the soundtrack, but all the songs that were used at all in the movie should be listed here, so you should be able to find it (I'm assuming you're talking about Dickie Roberts, but I haven't seen it; I just don't recall a scene like that in Spade's other movies):

Sweet! Thanks Booray! It's "Ride Like The Wind" by Christopher Cross.

This has been driving me nuts!!!

ok, I'm looking for a rap 'song' (and I use the term loosely). I don't know the name of it, or the artist, but I do know that it is a coherent song, and EVERY word in the song is in alphabetical order.

ChickenNinja 03-31-2004 02:24 PM

I'm trying to find the lounge version of Down With the Sickness that was in Dawn of the Dead. Does anyone know if it's got a different title? Kazaa had no luck as far as I could tell.

I didn't see the movie, but it is probably by Richard Cheese, off of his Tuxicity album. I just ordered it from Amazon, but I don't have it yet. His "Lounge Against the Machine" album is awesome.

Some legit downloads available here, but not that song specifically:

{edit} Just saw on his webpage that this is the song.

Guess what.. yep.. need a song or artist.....
It from the movie Daredevil, no, not ont he soundtrack. For those withthe DVD, it's scene 15 I believe, of the rap genre.
Opening lyrics start like
"I'm an outlaw..... "and main chorus may contain "How it feeeels"
I checked the damn credits at the end, but everything I sampled was no the song... really kinda pisses me off, ohwell. Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like it might be "Lapdance" by N.E.R.D. (from the album In Search of... )

goateebird 04-03-2004 11:26 AM

Just heard a song on the college radio, one of the final lines was

"The alligator is still alive"

Genre: kind of indie rock, i guess.

Anybody know the song? thanks.
