Corrupt CDs
These are the music CDs that:
1. Prevent you from copying it for personal use or from playing it on computerized devices (computers, DVD players, game consoles like PlayStation, MP3 players, consumer CD duplicators, high-end stereo equipment and car CD players).
2. In the United States, Canada and the UK, these "copy-protected" CDs are often unmarked. Once you buy it, you can only exchange it and hope that the replacement isn't defective too.

= CDs that are definitely being released in corrupt batches.

Why the hell do they do that?

"Oh, let's wipe out half the market so that people can't copy the music. Pretty much, let's not let people listen to music, so they can't copy it!"

When they ARE marked...what does the marking look like? I've never seen one before.

They're doing anything to stop the piracy. This is about the most moronic thing ever though.

I was going to buy the shiny new Iron Maiden CD - but if I can't put it on my MP3 player or play around the house on my computers, I won't. Thy've got a corrupt release, so fuck 'em. There are plenty of other CDs I want to buy.

That's funny, if I'm an artist, and I'm making something that is selling for $20 a copy, I'd want more than $0.17 cents a copy (Janet Jackson).

Give me Kazaa and an address to send a check to the ARTIST & cast.

this isnt new and i know why the companies do this. The largest reason is to curb piracy in Europe and Germany. In other parts of the world CD's are VERY expensive and piracy is rampant. In Germany in particular it is big business and is very much a big deal in Europe. Similar to software piracy in china, once a glut of illegal cd's get made in Germany, they spread all over europe cutting into the artist's and label's profits. BMG/Universal is taking the biggest hit of all the record lables overseas and developed this scheme to stop it. Im not sure if it's gonna fly in the States though, I have a few of the CD's listed and they play on my computer fine.
