The Strokes - Room On Fire
 

The Strokes' second album is being released on October 28th, you can download the first single, 12:51 from www.thestrokes.com.
From the sounds of it, they haven't strayed too far from what got them so much attention from their first album. I was worried that they might try too hard to 'clean up' their sound. If this album is as good as Is This It? I'll be at the record store as soon as it opens.

My friend recieved a leaked version from somewhere on the net and while I haven't had the chance to hear it yet, according to him "It's fuckin' great!"

They had really cleaned up their sound for thier first album from their demo. So, I guess it all just depends on your taste. Maybe they just have more money, therefore more recourses to sound the way they want to now.

Well I just had the pleasure of listening to the new album.

HUGE EDIT: Let's sum this up:

-Shorter songs, more distortion while keeping the Strokes sound we all know and love. I like the new album, a lot.

I had to turn it off. I was listening to it at work and it was coming across as a giant vanilla wafer that was lulling me to sleep.

Extremely disappointing after the first listen.... but, more focused attempts are forthcoming.

You have to pay attention to something the first time you listen to it. And listen to it more than once. Look up the lyrics if you can. Break the surface, get a deeper understanding of what you're listening to. You'll appreciate it much more.

Have yet to hear it, but I am excited. To bad they had to push the release date back to October 28th though, I want it now :)

I heard the leak of it also. IMO, Is This It is a LOT better, even though I dont think the Strokes departed much from their original formula with the new album. I guess I should listen to it a few more times to let it sink in, but Im not too impressed.

i really liked the strokes first album but I can't help but wish they changed their sound even a little bit. Not that the sound before wasn't good, its just that it is very refreshing to see a band grow.
