If ya haven't picked this album up already.....
Then wtf are you waiting for?!! Give it a listen. Best release of 2002 without a doubt. Ain't heard another album that sounds quite like it. Kinda like Yoshimi it's just great and different.
Give these songs a listen: Tuna In The Brine (Awesome) My Favorite Thing (Beautiful) Across The Night (For those who like poppy ballads) After All These Years Hell the whole damn album is great. It really grows on you if you like that sort of sound. It's like every song on the album has at least one part thats so awesome that you gotta listen to the whole song. A completely differen't sound for Silverchair. I hope they continue to evolve into this great kinda music. This album was sooooooo underrated it got literally NO exposure at all except for a couple a commercials on Showtime where they played Greatest View over a movie montouge n shit. Okay maybe I'm just a fan but I think it's fuckin great. I don't care if I'm alone in that either. Asta!!

No it doesn't sound like the Lips I'm just saying that like the Lips release it's a very refreshing and different sound. Especially something you wouldn't expect from Silverchair. One a the dudes who commented on it said it was like a mixture of Queen & Alice In Chains. I'd say A LOT of the album is very reminiscent of old Queen material and maybe even a little Moody Blues and Electric Light Orchestra. It's very orchestral, lots of great harmony, chalked full a great ballads and just really enchanting sounds. Everytime you hear the CD again you notice something different about it. A really soothing harmony that you didn't catch on the first listen it really and honestly is one of the best CD's I've purchased it really grew on me. But it's only if ya really like that sort of thing. For some it might be a bit too I guess the word would be "poppy" for some but I think it's great.
You can check out the album here at their site: http://www.chairpage.com/diorama/diorama.htm Asta!!

K-Wise, I like the albums you posted on the album cover picture thread, perhaps I'll check this one out. I kinda wrote off silverchair after Frogstomp as Pearl Jam copiers, but I received the album as a gift, and actually enjoyed it. I like "Neon Ballroom" or whatever it was called also. Both kinda poppy, but that is not always a bad thing.

Neon Ballroom is a lot darker than Diorama. But right now it seems only Daniel Johns can do a song like Spawn Again and then do a song like Across The Night and have the both be really good. The new album is completely different with a few familiarities. You can check it out on the link I gave.

yeah i have this one and its pretty damn good. Good to see an Aussie band getting good exposure.
And even though i don't mind frogstomp too much (remember they were 15 or something when they released frogstomp back in 95') this is easily their best and most refreshing. |

I'm glad you guys like it. I'd like to think I have pretty good taste in music and I really think some of those songs are just awesome. Tuna In The Brine and My Favorite Thing would have to be my 2 favorites though. Do pick it up and give them some more sales n put some well deserved money in their pockets

I thought I was the only one who liked this album. I am a big fan a Silverchair and was pleasantly surprised when I saw they had come out with a new cd. Very good music.
I think my favorite tracks are "Tuna in the Brine" and "World Upon Your Shoulders"

Yeah Tuna In The Brine is fuckin awesome but my other favorite would have to be My Favourite Thing...that ones just beautiful. I had always liked Silverchair but I never had money to pick up their albums and didn't start buying them until like last year or the year before. Now I'm a huge fan...They're one of my favorite bands.
