Now, just like in the Limp Bizkit thread I started I hate to see the shit storm this will create but...


I burned the Good Charlotte CD from a friend and I must say that it isn't that bad... they steal from all the old skool punk bands but it's worth listen if you like punk.

Not that my opinion means dick to y'all but you should take a listen.

One of these days I'll kill them....j/k They seem like cool people and they seem more like they do it for the fans than anything else so I can respect that. They aren't really my cup a tea so I usually change the channel when their video's come on. Kinda funny when Chris Rock called em a mediocre green day on the VMA's. Either way I don't like todays punk it's far too fuckin poppy. Like Blink, GC, New Found Glory, I can't stand any a those guys and they all sound the same to me. Sex Pistols is more the kinda punk I can dig....angry rebel music.

Ya at least they called themselves pop punk. I like them. Everyone says they sold out but i really dont see how they did.

I'm not a huge fan of them but they do have some catchy songs that stick in your head.

I like them too. I actually bought their cd. Well it was one of those 12 for a dollar or whatever music club things but i still bought it.

I do like their sound. Even if it is a little poppy. I got their cd a long time ago, and continue to listen to it on occasion. At least their not Sum 41, those guys I truely do not like.

All of these bands sound the bloody same. What's happened to originality. I guess Radiohead are... but who else?

i don't really like them. I don't care for that kind of music to much, plus i've heard that lifestyles for the rich and famous songs more times than i'd like...

I like sum 41, i like GC, etc etc. I dont care if they sold out or not, if i like the sound of the music, thats all that matters, and yes, gc did sell out, seeing as how they host shows on mtv

The term "Sell out" tends to really, really piss me off. I've heard that too much about Dashboard Confessional.

i don't know if GC sold out or not, but i agree with Averett sell out gets thrown around too much. Hooker with a penis, by Tool, to me, is about the frivolity of the term sell out.

Seriously though, to each his own. I listen to some wierd shit and am tired of people telling me what I listen to is shit so I won't do the same.

I don't like the fact they use the term punk to describe their music, but that's just me. I don't mind them a whole lot.

I think Chris summed it up nicely. Personally, I have trouble digesting the new "punk" (and I am having trouble even categorizing them as punk) bands that we have today. I guess if they labled themselves as something other then what they aren't, possibly people wouldn't get so turned off by bands like them. I think the hip hop community would feel just about the same if coffee house poets starting referring to themselves as rappers :p.

Well... I've had heard good about them, so I digged some Good Charlotte og to review them for myself... I as amazed and stunned as if I had been hit by a lightning from God himself... damn! First of all: The singer can't sing. After listening to him for 1,5 minute, I already wanted to put him out of his misery. It was like listening to cat that's being beaten to death with a spoon! The lyrics are okay... if they just could find a decent singer... and maybe also a good drummer, guitarplayer, bassplayer, keyboardplayer...

It's mainly the vocals that suck...and the song writing....and the playing...and well they're just an all around sucky excuse for a band let alone a punk band.

Oh my lord look what i've started lol. Well, when a band sucks as bad as Good Charlotte it only takes one person's negative comments to bring out the rest of the people who hate that same band.

with retarded lyrics like "girls dont like boys, girls like cars and money," its a wonder people even buy their music. surprisingly enough, they did not suck that much ass when "little things" came out a few years back.

I don't think they're punk, but then again i don't think punk is nescessarily a worthwhile goal for creating good music.
GC is pop music above all else, just like anything else you've ever heard on your local clear channel affiliate or the disgustingly self-obsessed behemoth that is MTV.
Despite the obvious differences Tool and GC and 50 Cent and Christina Aguilera all share the same dubious honor of splitting up screen time on the channel that defines mainstream pop music.

Yeah but I mean c'mon 50 got shot 9 times, that has to count for something.

This is EXACTLY why I hate this band, and others in the same genre. I have no idea why people think that this is punk music. News flash, its not :) They, along with the rest of the clones, are mainstream pop.
