Incubus - 'Drive'

Sometimes I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much I'll let the fear take the wheel and steer
It's driven me before , and it seems to have a vague , haunting mass appeal
But lately I am beginning to find that I should be the one behind the wheel
Whatever tomorrow brings , I'll be there with open arms and open eyes
So if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive ?
It's driven me before and it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around
But lately I'm beginning to find that when I drive myself my light is found
So whatever tomorrow brings , I'll be there with open arms and open eyes
Would you kill the Queen to crush the hive ?
Would you choose water over wine , hold the wheel and drive ?

:)

Black Sabbath's Never Say Die

Future's on the corner, throwing us a die
Slow down, turn around, everything's fine

There's no need to have a reason
There's no need to wonder why
It's a part of me that tells you
Oh, don't you ever, don't ever say die
Never, never, never say die again

slightly the opposite, i had broken up with my g/f of 4 years and then the song 'screaming infidelities' by dashboard confessional came on. kinda related to that lots. other than that, all songs have a positive influence on me since it hypes me the hell up.

bundy 09-02-2003 06:17 PM

"MISTY" by Johnny Mathis. God, she was beautiful. Dark black short hair , and dark eyes that reflected the light from the candle.
---so slim and smooth--just glided in your arms when we danced...---but we were both married---and not to each other...
so much to gain, so much to lose....now just memorys.

"Just two lost souls, swimmin' in a fish bowl
Year after year" Pink Foyd, Wish You Were Here.

Summed my life up very well at the time, but in a way its true for all life with a mate.

Morphine "I Had My Chance"
This song helps me to realize that instead of focusing on regret, you should instead learn from your mistakes. (shouldn't this be in Tilted Music? It'd probably get more responses. Even though the thread starter is apparently banned, it's a good idea. I'm always open to new positive music.)

I had my chance and I let it go (x2)
Well if I ever have myself another chance like that
I'm going to grab it and I won't look back (x2)
Sometimes I'm too careful
I walk just like I'm carrying a hand grenade
It's going tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tick
Ticking ticking ticking in my hand
It's going tick tick tick tick ticking in my hand
Tick tick ticking in my hand
And if I ever have myself another chance like that
I'm going to grab it and I won't look back
Yea if I ever have myself another chance like that
I'm going to grab it and I won't look back (x2)

This will more than likely get moved to the Music section. To answer the question thats tough cause I have a huge passion for music and on top of loving it for as long as I can remember I also am VERY eclectic so to choose would be kind of hard. But I'll take one incident in my life.....

First time I listened to Wu-Tang Clan - 36 Chambers/Wu-Tang Forever I decided to start emceeing.....seriously though it became more than just an experimentation to me and you could say that pretty much changed my life in one way or another. Also I completely stopped listening to MOST mainstream hip-hop because it was completely wack...no feeling, no sign of any real effort put into it it was just piss poor lousy excuses for rap music. Changed my entire standards of hip-hop and then I went and changed one of my best friends standards after that and we both never went back and we continue to listen to real hip-hop, support real lyricists, and write our own real hip-hop as well.

Asta!!

lyricts have given me hope when all else failed on my deathbed. awhile back i came close to a nervous breakdown. one day i heard this and i have been changed.

TOOL's "Parabola" (the whole LP "lateralus" is chock full of inspiration on life, forgiveness and evolving into a better person)

Twirling round with this familiar parable.
Spinning, weaving round each new experience.
Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing.

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
Embrace this moment. Remember. We are eternal.
All this pain is an illusion.

good thread, man.

As I read through this thread I find it abnormally strange that I cannot recall a song that had directly had a positive effect of me by means of lyrics alone. For some reason Pearl Jams "Daughter" keeps playing back through the jukebox in my mind and it's a song that soothes and chills me out.

tikki 10-19-2003 11:10 PM

I don't really have much music that affects me positively...well I do have Hillary Duff.

h2ogo69 10-20-2003 11:37 AM

boxcar racer - there is
