Vocal warmups and techniques
Can anyone point me to a NON-pay site that has vocal warm up wavs or mp3s so i can get a feel for some good practices. Ive sang a long time but I want to reach new levels and Im experimenting with actual voice lesson type training despite the fact I would like to things like T00l, Acid Bath,Radio Head etc. or if there are any good singers out there could you perhaps record some of your warm ups and pm me so that I can get you to upload them to my FTP.

I've been reading on some sites, and dont quite understand some singing terminoligy. For instances what do they mean when they say "Helps place your chest and head voices; and bridge the registers to sound like one voice" I think I understand head and chest voice but what do they mean by bridge and registers? are registers like tones and bridges mean like seamlessly switching between tones? (Edit) If anyone finds it usefull, this is a nice site i found http://www.vocalist.org.uk/breathing_exercises.html

I've been taking lessons and am decently familiar with terminology. "Bridge the registers" is refering to the resonance of the head and chest registers. Lower notes vibrate more prominantly in the chest cavity and higher notes reach into the sinus cavity. When it says "bridge the registers" it just means to go between those two resonances smoothly. You should sing some low to mid notes and place your hand on your chest and see if you can feel the vibration, do likewise with some mid to high notes but place you fingers on the sides of the bridge of your nose.
One major thing that you must do is keep the back of your mouth open the "soft pallate" must be up for you get get a better range. To do this all you have to do is yawn, that "yawn" feeling is the soft pallate lifting. Another note: When reaching for notes that seems high try not to tense up. Most of singing is mental. The hard parts of singing is getting through the mental blocks, you may find you can sing higher than you ever thought just beacuse your mind lets you. Again when hitting higher notes don't squeeze the neck muscles it will end up hurting your larynx afterward. And familiar yourself with your falsetteo voice, if you havent already, espesically if you want to sing songs by Radiohead or Coldplay. I'll field anymore questions to the best of my ability.
