All I've heard is from www.thestrokes.com. The news page says that as of July 9th, they were putting the final touches on the album. So who knows, we could be hearing something real soon.

It's funny that a lo-fi sounding band needs to put "finishing touches" on their album. Their music sounds so raw, but i guess they could be trying to produce it in a way that it sounds like that on purpose.
I will definitely give their new album a listen to. Is This It was amazing. |

You know that they must of aggonized for hours on their "low fi chic" to get it just wrong enough to sound hip.
I too loved "Is This It" - talk about a catchy album. At times, if a bad pop tune from the radio got stuck in my head, all I'd have to do was start singing a Strokes tune and it would be gone. Good for wiping out the pop cache! Can't wait for the next one... lets hope the pretension is kept at bey

The Strokes quickly became one of my favorite bands, and their album hasn't left my car since I got it. I've NEVER fallen in love with a band the way I did them. I hope they don't get too "sophisticated"
Their sound is what made the amazing, AND what got the praise/press... I hope they realize that. |

Well in that case, I've got some good news for you madcow7sd:
It seems my facts were somewhat flawed. The Strokes were going to try a cleaner sound and do the album with a different producer (apparently he did some Radiohead albums), but after a failed session, they decided to stick with their raunchier sound and go back to their original producer. And the album is due out sometime this fall. |
