Guitar effects question
Hey, i just started playing a couple months ago and my rig consists of a Godin SDxt and a Roland Cube-15 practice amp. This seems to be fine for clean stuff, but the built in distortion on the amp kinda sucks. So i'm looking for any suggestions for distortion pedals under $100 that would sound good. So far my friends have suggested the Pro Co Rat and the Boss DS-1. Thanks for any ideas.

I have the Rat, and it's my favorite pedal of all time. It looks so ghetto, but automatically makes your guitar sound like Kurt Cobain or Billy Corgan's. Also works when I play along to RATM.

Good rig I also have the Cube 15 and 30 nice practice amps indestructable find a used pandora a box about the size of a pack of cigarettes gives you a tuner, headphones and tons of digital effects even a couple of simple drum tracks all in a small battery operated pack thats a blast to play with

Get a Digitech Rp 100, they sell for about $79 and have basicaly all you need. 13 Different Amp types, Different delays, distortions, phaser, reverbs, chorus, EQ, etc. And you don't even need an amp, just plug head phones in the pedal and play.
Some people don't like the digital sound but I think they are better for beginners who don't want to spend $100 each on distortion, reverb, chorus and wah pedals. |
Well i've tried my friends' RP200 and about the only good thing i like about it is the wah, which is digitech's signature effect. Other pedals i'm looking at are the EH Big muff's, Marshall Guv'nor 2's and the MXR distortion+. Man, i wish companies would actually keep making good products, it seems every one of them sounds better the older they are.

I have a RAT 2 and it is very handy for if you want a metal sound. You can adjust it to fit your needs.

And we have a winner: I'll be recieving this pedal in about a week. Modded DS-1 but recieved awsome reviews from harmony central and such. If anyones interested i'll let you guys know how it turns out.
