Ultra-Short Songs
I love tiny song-bits, the shorter the better. 5 to 10 seconds is great. They are perfect in the middle of a random playlist while I'm driving. If anyone remembers the original Muppet Show Cast Album, the Statler and Waldorf dropins ("Brilliant!" "Well, it wasn't that great") are fine examples.
I just came across this promo for the "world's smallest album" by a band called Chromeo (I've never heard of them): Three minutes long, 55 tracks. It sounds absolutely perfect for me, except that I think it may be a prank. Or a downloadable GPS voice, or something. Does anyone know of other good short music?

Pretty cool. Short and sweet.
The Beatles are known for the short sub-3:00 songs. But they're also known to have really long songs [Revolution 9 (8:23)] and several of what I guess could be considered ultra-short songs, given the industry standard, including their shortest, "Her Majesty" (0:23): Other short songs by the Beatles include:
And if you include the short instrumental "The Beginning" (0:50) composed by George Martin, then there's that as well.

How about Misirlou, revived by Pulp Fiction:
I guess TV theme songs don't really count but the theme to My Friend Rabbit is super catchy:

The grindcore scene inherited it from the punk scene and made their songs shorter and even more aggressive:
"Two in one both harbor an opinion one talks louder the other talks faster" There's an under 5 second song by Cattle Decapitation called (surprisingly enough) "The Decapitation of Cattle" but I can't find it on youtube.

Ah, shoot, I just found out where the Chromeo exists: on Nokia SatNav phones. Nokia - Own Voice for Ovi Maps
I still want the MP3s of this. Anyone have one of these phones and know how to extract voices?
