Tapeworm Project

So, there's practically nothing about it on the net, the official(?) site doesn't even have the pics up anymore, and I've heard nothing aobut it for months. However, Nine Inch Nails' website (www.nin.com) has recently been updated to include a small image in the lower right corner that links through a series of images. It's the type of cryptic announcement that I'd expect from Trent Reznor, but I'm surprised to hear almost nothing from anyone.

Has anyone heard more than I have about a possible album release date? Has anyone heard the song that's supposedly a Tapeworm cover of Pink Floyd's "The Wall pt.2" ?

Anyone, tell me anything.

The only real proof of the tapeworm project actually doing something, (that I've heard) is an APC track called "vacant", I think, you can get it off TDN in the audio section section somewhere. It's a live bootleg thing, the quality is pretty decent though.

Maynard at the start says:

"this next song has been just a rumour for the last two years, it's a song that I did with Danny Lohner for the tapeworm project *crowd goes wild*, we uh.. spiced it up a bit"

pretty good song too.

However looking at the page now it says: "Performed by A Perfect Circle; 1/31/00, Portland, OR."

That was years ago, so was it all just a big lie ?

I just pretend that I don't know anything about Tapeworm. It's better than anticipating something that may never come.

In addition of the NIN musicians and sound engineers (Sean Beavan, Dave "Rave Olgivie...), Tapeworm will feature some famous guests: Maynard James Keenan (Tool / A Perfect Circle), Phil Anselmo (Pantera), Page Hamilton (Helmet), Atticus Ross (12 Rounds). Beside these names, there is also a long list of unconfirmed artists -such as Toni Halliday (Curve), Neil Taylor (Snake River Conspiracy), Marilyn Manson, Chris Vrenna (ex- NIN), Billy Howerdel (A Perfect Circle), Kevin Mac Mahon (Prick), Scott Putesky - a.k.a. "Daisy Berkowitz"- (ex- Marilyn Manson / Jack Off Jill), Richard Patrick (Filter), Tommy Victor (Prong), Rob Zombie (White Zombie), Flake Lorenz (Rammstein), Chris Randall (Sister Machine Gun), Tod A. (Cop Shoot Cop / Firewater), Perry Farrel (Porno For Pyros / ex- Jane's Addiction), Jared (Chemlab), etc...- who might be part of the Tapeworm project. According to a Nine Inch Nails fan who attended the NIN private dress rehearsals in Los Angeles in April 2000, D. Lohner told him after the show that "he even wanted Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode) to work with them on Tapeworm"...
So far, several tracks that are allegedly the work of Tapeworm have surfaced on p2p networks. There's "Slowdriver," an electronic song with lyrics that seem to fit in witha sci-fi movie, backing rumors of the album being released as a soundtrack. I have heard several of these, including one which supposedly features Marilyn Manson singing for a remake of Pink Floyd's "The Wall." "Vacant," another Tapeworm song, has been performed live by A Perfect Circle.

Some of the guys promised a release by fall of '99, so we might see ti be the time they're dead.

I also remember seeing something before Exciter came out on the official DM site that said David was speaking with trent, but they couldn't work anything out before production for Exciter started ramping up. I think tapeworm may never happen. I've even seen Jon Davis attached to that thing..
