Black Sabbath singer Ronnie James Dio dead of cancer | Ampersand | National Post

There was/is so much about metal that sucks, especially the hair band crap of the eighties. The real reason all that metal sucked, though, is because they were pale, pathetic imitations of the real pioneers of the genre--people like Ronnie James Dio.

Damn, I haven't been a fan of Dio very long, but what I did listen of his music, I loved. He was a pioneer in every sense of the word and the world will be a loss because he is gone.

RIP Dio.

A-fucking-men, brother. RJD was a class act and a true ambassador of the genre, unlike the opportunistic whores who cashed in their popularity, sold out their integrity, and became bumbling caricatures of their former selves (*cough* Ozzy *cough*).

I am truly saddened by this news. His music had a huge impact on me as a youth and young man. the world truly was a better place for me because of his contribution. R.I.P.

This was a loss to music in general. He was an ICON.
While most people think of Ozzy as THE singer for Black Sabbath--1980's Heaven and Hell, is probably, back to front, the strongest Black Sabbath album of them all.

Sad news.

Dio was the first rock n roll concert I ever saw, back in 1985. Sacred Heart Tour.
First time I did acid too!
