Depends on what kind you are looking for. For starters, I HAVE to recommend "Legend" the greatest hits album by Bob Marley. It is the best primer on "traditional" reggae that I know of. From there, you can move on to Jimmy Cliff and a host of other artists.

Then you have the modern reggae infused hiphop acts. Leading the charge is Ms. Dynamite, followed by (barf) Sean Paul and Shaggy.

Nothing is wrong with Ziggy Marley, nor any of the other of the Marley clan. They all come from greatness.

If you like Dancehall reggae, look into Sean Pauls earlier stuff, or even Snow (the white guy who did "informer"). There are more out there, but I really don't know many of them, save for Bounty Killer.

Man o Man, you are missing out on some real good reggae if you just stick to Bob (I love Bob). Check out the following artists...They are a good "beginners gudie to reggae"

-THE HARDER THEY COME SOUNDTRACK (various artists...Jimmy Cliff, The Maytals, Desmond Dekker)
-Junior Murvin
-Horace Andy
-Lee Scratch Perry
-The Upsetters
-The Skatalites
-Max Romeo
-The Heptones
-Augustus Pablo
-The Congos
-Justin Hinds and the Dominos
-Steel Pulse
-Culture
-Peter Tosh

and the list goes on and on.
The earlier the stuff, the better (in my opinion).
Lee "Scratch" Perry's Anthology is a must have. I can't think of one song on their that I don't like.
Also another good album to get is the TROJAN BOX SETS that you can find at Best Buy for a decent price. They range from...Dancehall Collections, DUB Collections, SKA (the real ska, not this shitty punk ska people seem to think is real ska) Collection and so forth.
I love all types of music...from Breakbeat techno...to Jazz, Classical .... to Old R&B. The only music I don't like is cunt-ry music and new R&B (R Kelly and shit like that). Even though there are a few gems here and there with those as well.
But reggae, is by far my favourite. It can put you in a mellow mood, or it is good back ground music for almost any social event, or it can make you want to dance. Go check out some from the list above...and don't just check one song from each...try a few songs from each artist. You will be bound to like some of it..and in turn love most of it.
ONE LOVE

Check out "Roots Reggae" if you're just getting into it. Then you can experiment with the Dancehall Stuff, Dub Reggae, and the new Hip Hop/Reggae from Sean Paul, Wayne Wonder, and the like.

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Songs Of Freedom is a phenomenal 4-disc set that's also very user-friendly.

Can't go wrong with Bob. Buju Banton & Peter Tosh are good.
