The best version of a song
I was listening to Pandora radio today and heard the studio version Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed" and it got me thinking. First, I love Pandora, and second, you rarely here the studio version of that. The live version off of the "Wings Over America" album is generally considered the better version and the one played by radio stations.
I think the live version is better because it has more soul to it. The studio version just seems flat. So, which songs do you feel have a "better" version. And I'm not talking about other artists covering the tune, that discussion is in another thread. It doesn't necessarily have to be a live version. Sometimes bands do acoustic or alternate versions of their own songs. Sometimes the lead sing of the band may include it in a solo album. I would not consider that a "cover" since it is still the same artist. I thought of several examples, but I want to hear the TFP consensus first.
