*video* Audioslave's new "banned" video
High Band
http://www.sonymusic.com/artists/Aud...idfull_300.asx Low Band http://www.sonymusic.com/artists/Aud...vidfull_56.asx In the tradition of American Culture. or american rebel culture. Chris and the boys venture across the desert running cops off the road in thier little bikes, fellow motorists...the guy with the hat looks funny, and whatever else they do. in the midst of this The band stops off and performs a little concert for a bunch of hippies. dispite my cynism, i really enjoyed the video. its fun. MTV are a bunch of fools for banning it. no one ever banned SMOKEY and the BANDIT. Shhhheeee-it they play that on TNT every other day. give it a watch. |
The question is not "when's it gunna stop...but who's gunna stop em?"
|
I like how MTV is turning their backs on the same type of music that made MTV a pop culture icon. Rock music is what MTV was built on and with videos like this and the foo fighters video being banned it sickens me. MTV's attitude is something like this, "Well, we could play this creative, thoughtful, and inventive video from Audioslave (Who isn't doing too bad on the charts right now) but instead I think we'll play this video that has a lot of half naked girls dancing while 3 people attempt to rhyme words and grab their dicks." Not that i'm against half naked women but damn, there's only so much of that shit I can stomach before I look for something that has meaning. MTV interviews Dave Grohl for all their little VH-1 specials but won't even play his video? Pathetic.
|
the video was great... but any kind of rebellion towards authority figures is a sure way to get your ass booted off of corporate television. a real shame.

Finally, someone who actually gets it. Jeez. I've had the same basic thesis for quite a while now, and no one's ever really understood what the hell I've been talking about. Good call, BB. I salute you. As for the whole "authority figures" thing, every single rapper out there says that he's a "gangster" or "thug," meaning someone who holds the law in complete and utter disregard. ...hmm... |
By the way, upon watching the vid, that is a totally kickass vid to go with a totally kickass song (it's always been my favorite a-slave song). It's a shame that most people aren't going to get to see it, and instead are going to be subjected to just more and more of the same exact rap video over and over again.
Just plain sad. |

you won't see any violence, any lawbreaking, anything like that... just them in shiny jewelry surrounded by buttshaker chicks and rented exotic cars. real thugs, huh? |
2Pac - I Ain't Mad Atcha
That was years ago, and it showed a guy getting shot and eventually dying. So... that's OK, but driving stunts involving defying the law AREN'T? *sigh* The world will never truly know what these idiots at MTV are thinking. |
I showed this video to my father wanting to know what type of car it was they were driving. He said that the video is based on some movie and evidently he knows what he was talking about because he knew how the video ended before it did. Anyone know the name of the movie?
|
how come it's only giving me audio?
|
I'm sure the vid was banned because "it would give people bad ideas about breaking the law."
Oh wait, then why show Jackass? Fucking double standards |
AUDIOSLAVE Rock Hardcore!

do what you must do to see this b/c it is one excellent video. as for MTV not playing it i could give a toss. they stopped being a new and exciting place to see new and exciting music a long, long time ago. now it's just a launchpad for whatever half naked tart is hocking her overproduced drivel to the world. |
this may be a little off topic, but what Foo Fighters video did they take off the air. i dont really watch too much MTV because of all the pure crap they play (i totally agree with you BulletBob).
IMO, MTV sold itself out to the rap and pop culture, almost abandoning the rock world. i find it truely amazing that two of their highest rated shows appeal to the rock and hard punk culture, the Osbornes and Jackass. |

1971, Cleavon Little as the blind DJ. "there goes the challenger being chased by the blue, blue meanies on wheels The vicious traffic squad cars are after our lone driver The last American hero... the... the demigod! The super driver of the Golden West! Two nasty Nazi cars are close behind our beautiful lone driver and the police cars are getting closer, closer, closer to our soul hero in his soul mobile! Yeah, baby! They're about to strike! They're gonna get him! Smash! Rape! The last beautiful free soul on this planet..." I pray, almost daily, that this will eventually be released on DVD. AND Gumball Rally, for that matter. I just love car chase movies... |
Yep Vanishing Point almost identical look and feel
|
They banned that? Shit, I see the same imagery all the time on TV. I guess when it's attached to music, it's automatically "influential" not entertaining.

MTV refused to air the Foo Fighters video for Low. It features Dave Grohl and Jack Black getting drunk in a hotel room and cross dressing. There was a post on this board with a link to the video. |

This video has been banned? I've seen this on MTV, MTV2 and Fuse (much music) a LOT of times......in fact, Its being played alot...

It was almost my first car, but my father wouldn't let me buy it. 383 magnum with a pistol grip shifter. Stupid me... I took dad for a test drive in it and had it going sideways in second gear. He wasn't impressed. Man... I woulda died for that car. Oh well, I moved out not long after that and bought myself a 1979 Firebird Formula 400, and Dad... I'm still alive! |
I forgot to reply to the banning of the video. What the fuck is up with that? With some of the other shit MTV shows? I would rather let my kids see that than some of the cheesy sex they sell!
|
Are we sure that this has been banned?
As for the lack of depth at MTV... sounds like there is need of a new Music Video channel... one that plays music other than Rap... We have the following in Canada: Much Music (what MTV used to be) - basic cable More Much Music (like VH1) - basic cable Much Vibe (Rap, R&B, hip hop and soul) - digital cable/sat Much Loud (Rock and alt rock)- digital cable/sat MTV 1 (Canadian version of MTV) - digital cable/sat MTV 2 (ditto above but more music less non-music programming) - digital cable/sat |

gnr used that in one of their songs........ |

Seein' as how we're in a music forum, I thought it'd be a good link to the movie. Seems like a lot of musicians like that movie... |
they banned that shit? sigh.
|
how can you ban a video like that, when theres far more harmful things on the current videos
hasnt anyone noticed all the little wanna be gangsta punk kids running around trying to act like thier favorite lame pos artist you see on mtv? the artist that mtv use to relate to were awesome, deep, motivational music. rock, some metal, a mix of pop, and a mix of rap. now its just rap or pop nothing else unless you maybe watch it at 3-4am |
That was an excellent video...apparently Canada has no problem with it, though. I saw it on MuchMusic.
|
Audioslave had an article on thier site at one point claiming that is was banned. I honestly don't know when MTV actually plays music anymore with all this real road jackass rules world shit thats on. so i just went by that. sorry if it's a misconception. Perhaps people protested to get it on MTV2 or maybe i'm just wrong. i dunno. Nonetheless, i was ready to believe because MTV is...well...MTV.
|
Awesome video from a great band! thx for the linky...this was one of my fave songs from the CD but the chorus seems slightly different...
|
gotta love that video. audioslave's a damn good band. i'm curious to see what zack's solo record is gonna be like though. anyone have any news on that one? i miss rage!
|
Cool video, *HOT* car, Morello is a god, Cornell has a good voice, but I wish they would have done a video on Exploder instead because I like that song more. So yeah.
|
Cool video -- great sound!
|
Nice video, didn't seem to fit the song well though. I also don't see why it was banned. You can see much worse on TV than that.
|
vanishing point with barry neuman great flick full of dirty hippies
|
Other than hitting the motorcycles off the road it was no different than the stuff you see on Dukes of Hazzard.
|
I've seen it on MMUSA/Fuse. Don't watch MTV or MTV2 that much, so I don't know about them. Supposedly the official reason it was banned was not because of the disrespect for authority (although I'm sure that's part of it), but because of the "suicidal" ending where they crash into the roadblocks and the car explodes.
|
Thinking about it now...
After having this kickass video banned, they should either make the best, most innovative video EVER for their next single (hopefully Set it Off) just to shove it in MTV's collective faces, or make the worst, most drab, crappy video ever, watch it get a billion plays on MTV2, and then wallow in the irony of it all. |
