I always thought Jackson Browne was a better songwriter than a performer.
Bonnie Raitt's cover of his Under the Falling Sky kicks ass, and of course, The Eagle's cover of Take It Easy started their career.

The original
The definitive cover Hard for me to say which is better or which I even like more. But when I first heard the cover, I had to go seek out the original, and I have a decent collection of Toots now.
