I always thought Jackson Browne was a better songwriter than a performer.

Bonnie Raitt's cover of his Under the Falling Sky kicks ass, and of course, The Eagle's cover of Take It Easy started their career.

I really enjoy the Faith No More cover too.

I quite like this cover of Umbrella by Scott Simons -

The original

The definitive cover

Hard for me to say which is better or which I even like more. But when I first heard the cover, I had to go seek out the original, and I have a decent collection of Toots now.

I am very pleasantly pleased with Across the Universe, yes, the entire soundtrack.
I have a few favourites such as Blackbird and Dear Prudence.

On that theme, I enjoyed Siouxsie and the Banshees version as well. The first song of theirs I ever heard.
I have to say that Across the Universe did great covers. The only one I didn't really care for was While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Anything originally by Bob Dylan. What a songwriter, but he can't sing.
