Eminem's new album: Relapse
Anyone else listening to this? Eminem is back. Hilarious, offensive, and skilled.
Makes you forget that "My band" bullshit.

I read some article lately that said he was finished. I think a lot of his appeal was due to the offensive nature of his character, the "I cant believe he said that!" thing. But I haven't listened to his music. Do you think the color of his skin has to do with his mainstream acceptance? Is this off topic?

he lost all his "cred" when he started calling up Elton John asking for advice and just "talking"
that's not knocking Elton, it's just funny how someone wants to be so offensive and hardcore that they admit they are one big charmin coated ass in the end. That, and all his albums have sucked since his debut. |

I like this album more than any other of his so far, but it still has that "new" quality to it too, so who knows how I'll feel about it in a couple months? He is absolutely back. The lyrics are as funny and offensive as ever, and I personally like his flow a bit more on this album.
Right now I don't skip any tracks, which is more than I can say for almost alot of other rap albums. I don't think him being white has anything to do with anything. His mainstream acceptance is more for the fact that he has skill, and Dr. Dre being on his team doesn't hurt at all either.

Obviously the 4 years he's been away have given him lots of material, most importantly, his drug addiction. It's funny but also scary. He talks about it and you can tell he's fighting addiction on a daily basis. His mid carreer shit was just bland: trying to be offensive, only succeeding to offend moms, and now he's back and just surprises you with how his thoughts connect.

How is Relapse different than anything he's already put out? It's just another testament to Dre's glory days as a producer being long gone, his days as a rapper being even further gone and Em's willingness to waste his potential.
I've said this a lot since the release of Relapse but I'll say it again: when you're 4 years from being 40 years old - you're too old to talk shit about your parents. Understandably, he's got a fanbase to cater to but this is just plain indefensible: Quote:
