Moby vs Mos Def - Shauk's Porcelain Eye Mashup

Yep, Something a little different for "Shauk and his electronic fanboyism"

I made this quite a few years back and just put it back into the public view, let me know what you think

That's an interesting sound. I've never really done fancy electronic stuff; how do you get tempos and key signatures to match up?

Also, what happens with something like this rights-wise?

*listening*

What software/hardware did you use for this? (I know that's like asking an artist "oh, what brushes and paint did you use?")...not trying to reduce this to the tools you used, just curious.

Mashups are everywhere. Unless he sells it I think it's fair use.

I just used vinyl and turntables, there was no computer assistance for this. (you can hear the turntable noises at the very beginning of the track if you listen)

Nicely done Shaulk. Are you eyeballing anyone in particular to mash up in the near future?

nah, I really just did this one on accident, I was testing my ability to mix the more pop/hip hop friendly bpm range (60-90) about half the speed of what I do normally (120-140) or so and usually what I do to beatmatch is just play the other song in the headphones, well I just noticed it tended to compliment well so I went over it a few different times from different cue points and eventually settled on the one that you hear here.

currently I'm experimenting with a new genre actually. (called dubstep)

mostly it sounds like this stuff here.

I don't think I could tolerate an hour of this stuff but I'm thinking it'll make great material to mix in underneath the breakdowns of some trance/house playing at the same tempo.

(basically it's the same theory of hip hop under drum & bass) half tempo/double tempo in and outs.

I've witnessed the software Traktor, it's amazing to make mashups, and match bpms. I used to have fun with sampling and then playing with the pitch in Fruity loops, but that was before I found software that could change the speed while keeping the pitch the same.

Just wanted to say, I'm listening to Stopsigns and it's cool. I like this kind of music.
