good energetic techno like benny benassi?
I mostly listen to different kinds of metal but I have been getting into electronica recently, I am starting to like some intelligent dance music and ambient stuff like aphex twin but I have also been exploring the faster energetic rave-like stuff and I have had a harder time finding stuff like this than the ambient stuff.
So if anyone has any recommendations that would be cool. |

Some of my favourites are Astral Projection and Pete Tong.
Also, I'm not sure if this is the kind of stuff you're looking for, but my favourite album of all time is Songs of a Distant Earth. God, I could get lost in that music and never come out...

http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/ Benny Bennassi is kinda what I'd define as "Electro House" (www.beatport.com has a good selection) Quote:
Pete Tong is a Radio DJ, you essentiall referred him to another guy who refers music to people for a living, lol. not a bad direction but he's not really what I'd call a prevelent artist. He just graces people with a thumbs up and they become successful in the EDM world. He's like that. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_All_Gone_Pete_Tong mockumentary. Quote:
after all, I do consider myself one of the EDM buffs around here. also OP, you can check out a mix I shared for free with TFP http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=130179 and another resource for listening to genre's of your choice. http://di.fm Last edited by Shauk; 05-04-2008 at 08:05 PM.. Wow, thanks for the help guys! Its amazing how much good music there is out there.
btw, I am looking at the Electronic music guide, I find it funny how lukewarm the website is to most genres Last edited by thankyousir; 05-05-2008 at 01:21 PM.. |

haha yeah, it's def a bit of sharp wit. but as far as the samples you can listen to, it's top notch.
it's missing a few sub genres. Electro House/Electro Trance are all the new "rage" at the moment. but like I said, just check out that www.beatport.com site for even larger samples of the genre. |

All through college I listened to Paul Oakenfold's Essential Mixes on Radio 1. If you want some older (but still absolutely amazing) mixes, check out these:
Essential Mix Live at China Essential Mix Live at London Essential Mix Live at Ibiza Essential Mix Live at Goa (silver and gold) Essential Mix Live at Gatecrasher All by Paul Oakenfold. You won't regret listening to them, especially if you're just getting into electronica. Right now I'm on a major Drum n Bass mindset (Trancestep in particular, or Futurestep); have been for about 2 years. I really enjoy DJ Finny's Tardis Sound mix that comes on www.di.fm on the drum n bass section frequently. Last edited by Lasereth; 05-05-2008 at 02:40 PM.. |

I am starting to like goa trance too, that is pretty cool. This reminds me of when I first started getting into metal. For metal there are also many subgenres and your preferences change as you hear good artists from other genres

im a big Miguel Migs fan. his music borders on bootie-whack.... but curbs itself right on the verge of that so i don't feel ashamed listening to it as a hetero male. also, his songs are real songs, not so much repetitiveness that you can get with a lot of trance and house. he's got 2 solid albums out and one compilation.

I haven't been buying much music over the past couple months. Still, ala Benni Benassi and the more clubby side of electro-house, here's a couple of pretty popular tracks over the past few years:
(Bart van Wissen's still one of my absolute favorite artists) (Super catchy!) (If you like Deadmau5, also check anything by BSOD, thats him as well) (one of my sister's favorites...) ('nother of her fav's, she plays the shit out of this song) (less clubby, more techy. Very very popular. Too bad G&D split up.) (Bought this last week, that bassline is the shit) Right now, some recent songs I'm totally obsessed with - Very clear, soft, intimate house. Beautiful. Very moody stuff. A bit more on the minimal techno side, an injection of progressive. Chance Jumpers - Vendetta (Ilya Malyuev's Balitc Sound remix) (This kids like 20... Incredible engineering for someone so young) Poussez - Tell Me How You Do (deep, soft, prog house. I couldn't count how many times I've listened to this over the last 2 months....) |
