Pacemaker, The DJ's Ipod?
I thought I posted this already but.
http://www.pacemaker.net still in it's original run, the initial price is a bit absurd (with the conversion rate) I like the concept behind this thing a lot but I think it could have been executed better. what say you? |

/queues epic music/ What the shiiiiiiiiiit!...
Cool as that looks, and I would love to get one for Christmas, I couldn't bring myself to buy it. Cool that the entire DJ system is now palm sized... but I think out of convenience I would keep my laptop.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I can't stand the fact that a guy with an ipod hooked up to a sound system can get away with calling himself a DJ. Same goes for the guy with a laptop whose technical skill is limited to letting iTunes cross-fade one song into the next. There's more to it than making sure the music doesn't stop; I'd put the absolute minimum at the ability to beat and pitch match between songs, judge crowd response and pick songs based on it, and figure out what the crowd wants to hear. More advanced stuff like scratching, remixing, and the like are what put the good ones above the pack, and I'm even OK with someone using CD decks or a laptop. If this thing is functional enough to let someone sound good, that's fine, but when a pair of turntables or CD decks with a mixer costs the same, I don't see the appeal.
