jeeze...You cant say single songs. Check out Led Zeppelin I, II, and III. Also, rent/buy the Led Zeppelin DVD, the new one, The song remains the same is not so good.

Also pick up any live things you can get. The BBC sessions, How The West Was Won, and any bootlegs.

Bring It On Home, Dazed and Confused, The Lemon Song, How Many More Times, Misty Mountain Hop, When The Levee Breaks, The Ocean, The Rain Song, No Quarter, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Over The Hills And Far Away, What Is And What Should Never Be, Trampled Underfoot, Ten Years Gone, In My Time Of Dying, Fool In The Rain, All My Love.

These are my favorites, but they're all good.

Shokan 06-21-2003 09:50 PM

Uhm, all of them.

Tophat665 06-21-2003 10:42 PM

I, II, III, IV (Zoso), Houses of the Holy, Presence, Physical Graffitti, In Through the Out Door. You can safely skip Coda, and all the extras they put out on various boxed sets are just so much gilding on the lilly, nice, but not really necessary. I would advise that you start with I, and whether you care for it or not, move on to Houses of the Holy, then In through the Out Door. Then II, III, Zoso, Physical Graffitti, and Presence.

My Favorite Zeppelin tune is probably "The Rover" on disc one of Physical Grafittim but it's all good: not a bad tune among the lot.

splck 06-21-2003 11:21 PM

listen to what the people above me said...it's all good.
I tend to listen to the whole CD rather than by the individual song. The songs seem to meld together...if you know what I mean.

RoloTomassy 06-21-2003 11:32 PM

I was kind of in the same situation, I went out and bought The Early Days and The Latter Days... they cover a lot (for not a whole lot of money), but they left out "The Ocean," "Misty Mountain Hop," and "Ramble On" (3 of my favorite Zeppelin songs). But trust me, it's WELL worth the $19.

philzilla 06-22-2003 06:07 AM

buy the new live album.

then slap yourself silly for taking so long to get into Zeppelin.

Jay Francis 06-22-2003 01:28 PM

The latest 3 cd release of live concerts called, How The West Was Won is wonderful.

Motorbreath 06-22-2003 01:57 PM

right on! thanks!

drodrig1 06-22-2003 10:17 PM

babe im gonna leave you, going to california, what is and never should be, overhills and far away, and tangerine ---- my favorites that i can listen to over and over agian. the rest of their stuff is great as well.

Troublebot 06-23-2003 11:44 AM

Trust Flyman. Get 'em all. You'll be glad you did.

I was in a band a long time ago where the sound guy would always play "Going to California" after our last song. Anytime I hear it now I think of sitting behind my set, towel over my head, feeling tired and wondering how long it was going to pack up all my shit.

Good times.

h2ogo69 06-23-2003 10:41 PM

all of them are good but since i fele liek being nice ill suggest a few sons:
over the hills and far away
the song remains the same
what is and what never should be
ramble on
white summer
dazed and confused
immigrant song
moby dick
were gonna groove
communication breakdown

-thats my top 10 in no particular order

GSRIDER 06-24-2003 04:00 AM

i always thought it was IV that was the solid standby... but it's been awhile since I've listened to any.

Yeah, like Heartbreaker melds right into Livin Lovin Maid. It really pisses me off when a radio station plays Heartbreaker by itself.

Troublebot 06-24-2003 11:13 AM

This is always good advice:

"And five, now this is the most important, Rat. When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV. "

90degree 06-24-2003 04:43 PM

all zep.

Fly 06-24-2003 07:41 PM

that new shit "how the west was won" all the old live shows re-mixed blew me away.

alterEGO 06-25-2003 09:55 AM

House of the holy

Babe, i'm gonna leave you
Out of the Tiles

clues_blues 06-27-2003 06:26 AM

Try Led Zep I and work from there... I would say that album is a touch more bluesy than their later stuff, though, which i like.

Over the Hills and Far Away.

I was in the 7th grade when Houses of the Holy came out, and I recorded the whole album on cassette tape and took it to school with me. In the beginning acoustic part of Over the Hills and Far Away, he sings the line "Hey lady, walk awhile with me." A teacher walking by me outside the school one morning thought he said, "Hey lady, fuck awhile with me." I was sent to the office and my tape was confiscated.

urgodhere 06-28-2003 11:45 AM

everything ever made by Zeppelin was über kingly and I suggest just buying the box set because it is very good(like all of their songs).

siogo 06-30-2003 06:38 AM

I always recomend 'IV' as a starting point for anyone new. Its how I started in '75' sorta breaks them in gently! The rest is up to them.

perripken 06-30-2003 06:56 AM

Motorbreath, I haven't heard a Zep tune I didn't like! Start with Zep 1 and work your way up, you won't be disappointed!

TIO 07-01-2003 01:52 AM

IV is the best known stuff. Listen to that first, and see what you think. From there, the earlier albums are bluesier, and the later albums are more experimental, and usually more polished.

Also, don't bother with individual songs. LZ were an albums band; listen to whole albums at a time.
