Beatport
Anyone else a member? Totally like the electronic version of iTunes. :) figured I'd let you all know they are letting people do 10 free downloads at https://www.beatport.com/vip
it's not a scam, it's free music, good quality, although you may not appreciate the genre as much as me :p |
Been a member for quite some time now and the site is excellent indeed.

I've been there forever.

I joined recently and it's totally saving me time and money over searching for records. although, i still intend to go record shopping in the future. :)
My latest set was made mostly from newer tracks purchased at beatport. 'tis good stuff. |
yeah, I just need to hook myself up with this
http://www.torq-dj.com/products/index.php and I can kiss that heavy as hell vinyl collection goodbye. |
I wouldn't be so fast to give up vinyl. A good DJ uses everything at their disposal, including TTs, CDJs, MP3s, etc. The more devices you have, the more you can do with the music. Heck, even having 2 TTs and 2 CDJs (as I have) allows one to do some pretty creative layering of beats and samples.
Plus, I find the Ladies really like seeing the vinyl spin :D |
I don't see how you can do more with any of that stuff than you can do with torq. Seriously that software is beast. It's got an open VST effects library, a sampler, and you can control tracks with either their cdj unit (the xponent) or vinyl (conectiv) all that changes is the physical representation of your music. Instead of being a heavy slab of vinyl, or an easily scratched CD, you could just slap your set on a usb key drive and go :p

tsk, tsk, tsk.
One should never give up the vinyl. |
