This goes out to the flamers.
Ok, I've killed this post because Guccilvr made me realize I was a hypocrite. haha. Nah, I knew that before. No seriously, I hate to see people beat some things to death... the St.Arguments, the avril, nu-metal, creed, sum 41, (insert an artist people complain about) sucks.
So if you are gonna complain... complain about something worth while like Eminem lip syncing or AC DC being old. cheers, silver <BR><BR> <CENTER><A HREF="http://tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12086&highlight=music+link"><FONT SIZE="5" COLOR="#FFFF00" FACE="COMIC SANS MS">Play the Music Link Game on the TFP!</FONT></A></CENTER> Last edited by silver26; 06-20-2003 at 11:37 AM.. |

Though a couple of my posts may bely this, I have always tried to state that "I don't like Band X" as opposed to "Band X sucks." Sure its semantics, but it makes a difference. Do I like Justin Timberlake? Not really. Do I think he sucks? No, he can sing 100000 times better than I can. He is successful for a reason. I don't have to like his music, however.
BTW, I agree with you on the Metallica disc. I like it more and more with repeated listenings. As I've said in other threads, stop living in Metallica's past, and if you really want to hear something that sounds like "Master of Puppets," go listen to "Master of Puppets"

So, since they INTENTIONALLY made it suck, I suppose I should appreciate it for its suckiness? Well, if you phrase it like that, sure.... Oh wait, no. I've seen them twice, and both times they had 10x the energy that I hear in this album, but more importantly, they didn't sound like ass scraping on sandpaper.

They've given us so much good shit, since you think St.Anger sucks, give them a break. Metallica is one of the most important mainstream metal acts ever. If they wanna switch it up a little, let them. If they wanna sound like 'ass scrapping on sandpaper' let em.
And I wasn't out of context there. There are mistakes in the signing, the production is horrible, and the bass isn't the best. They did not want to make a perfect album like the 'Black Album', they didn't want to beat the songs to shit. They wanted to go in a make it sound like 4 guys playing heavy music in a garage. They captured a lot of energy and I think its great. the end. No more St. Anger arguing for me. Its beat to death. Thanx for the reply Sparhawk Cheers |

First off everyone has an opinion and everyone is entitled to an opinion. If I like a band and someone else says they suck BIG DEAL? I don't take it personally. That's why we have so many different genres of music. Everyone likes different things. If someone wants to blast Metalliaca and dog them then fine, if someone wants to praise them fine. If someone wants to flame Avril who cares if someone praises her who cares. Just because people have an opinion on something doesn't make them closed-minded. It just means they are different than you. Sure maybe the metallica thing is overdone but really what's the big deal?
Silver26- You're quote about people not liking St. Anger after 4 or 5 spins means somone doesn't know anything about hard rock is bullshit. You've just become a slave to something that you were ranting about to start with. You blast people for complaining about music and yet here you are complaining about people. If someone has a thread about how they don't like a band either don't participate in it or constructively post why you think it's a good band/album. Don't bitch about it. |

im glad people are bitching. Its nice to see there are some discerning listeners out there who understand that alot of the big music acts these days are pathetic. All of the bands u named and rushed to defend really are doing more damage then good to the modern music scene.
I encourage people to demand more from modern artists, and to expect better quality of music in general. This is a good thing, not a bad. Perhaps we can find a better way to articulate our problems with these artists then rampant flames.. but still, creed REALLY does suck.

In the words of Stan from South Park "I've learned something today." Although I tend to disagree with 90% of fans music opinions, they are just opinions - everyone is entitled to one, If there was no opinions, you would have communism. The fans are what keep the music industry going. I shouldn't be picking up for people that get to make millions of dollars to play music.
