Thanks!

What well-known Republican political strategist has played back-up guitar for such soul and blues greats as Percy Sledge and B.B. King?

Last names Atwater (I think)? Can't think of his first, there was a state senator in Oregon, Les Atwater, so I can't get "Les" out of my head even though I know that's wrong.

This guy's from the south.

Lee Atwater?

Hugely random guess here. I'm not very knowledgeable about US politics and couldn't pick a Republican strategist out of a line-up.

Wow, go figure. My other option was Wes Atwater.

How about this, then:

The Streets song Fit But You Know It (currently featured in my signature) is rumoured to be about an early 200x pop starlet from what group? Bonus points for her name, but given how fast this lot came and went I'll be happy with just the group.

Dammit, I heard about this. I know it's another Simon Fuller group, but I'll be damned if I can remember the band, or the girl.

It is a Fuller group, but it's not that Fuller group.

Hint Spoiler: They were the first (and so far as I know, only) Fuller group to get their own television show.

Yeah, I never heard his name until the Beckham's move next door to Tom Cruise. His name was mentioned in several articles about Victoria and the Spice Girls. I know Beckham's a great "footballer" but why sports writers felt the need to include info about his new neighbors, his wife's old band, err group, err marketing tool? I have no idea. But shit gets stuck in my head and it won't leave.

Yes. Yes, you do. I dearly wish I could make the same claim.

The group was S Club, and the particular girl described by the Streets as "an eight or a nine, maybe even nine and a half in four beers' time" was one Rachel Stevens.

New, easier question: What popular Red Hot Chili Peppers song details an attempt by Anthony Kiedis to score some heroin?

This one's pretty easy, I think...

Which adult film star recorded the disco hit More, More, More (How Do you Like It) in the mid-70's?

Ok, another easy one to keep the ball rolling-

The opening line of the Stones song "Jumping Jack flash" is:

I was born in a cross-fire hurricane

What exactly is a cross-fire hurricane?

I honestly have no clue.

Cross-fire hurricane=storm of crossfire=firefight?

That's about all I got.

I always assumed it was reference to a Hawker Hurricane, the major RAF plane during the battle of Britain.

Correct!

Had to e-mail my friend who was a ball turret gunner in the Pacific. According to him Hawker made both Spitfires and Crossfires. Spitfires were for marine and over sea duty while the Crossfire was an over land fighter. I didn't verify any of that, I take him at his word... but he is in his late 80's so??

I would have accepted the answer regardless of his reply, was just curious what the differences were.

Yer, up!

That's my new fact for today, then. I thought of the Hawker Hurricane, but discounted it because I'd never heard it referred to as a Crossfire Hurricane. Now I know better.

Asking a bunch of music nerds about WWII aircraft may not make for as much of a gimme as you'd think.

Well my bad then. Alway thought of it as an easy one. Think it's in the original Trivial Pursuit game.

Would it have been better to ask who claims to have written the riff for the song and never got credited? My understanding is he's still not that happy about it.

Good to know. I had no idea what the difference was between the Spitfire and the Crossfire.

Okay..a question...

Elvis Costello got in trouble the first time he played this song on Saturday Night Live, then broke in on the Beastie Boys on the SNL 25th anniversary show (In the middle of Sabotage) and they played the song.

What was the song title?

I'm trying to think of a Costello song that would get him in trouble on SNL.

Alison? I'm thinking either that or Watching the Detectives.

EDIT - Dammit, I actually had the correct song as my original guess, but discarded it. I googled it and feel quite foolish now.

TV theme music...

What Canadian born actor wrote the theme music to "Diff'rent Strokes" and the original score of "Wheel of Fortune?"

Keeping with the TV show theme, let me put one in your head that might not get out all day.

The Brady Bunch

The name of the group is enough since they wrote it and performed the version that played the first few years.
