what bands are / were you in

what bands are / were you in and how are they going / why did it end?

i personaly have been in about 5 or 6 bands over the years,

1. Alpha66 - just a little punk thing that was put together by myself and a drummer trent, it didn't last too long trent formed another band with the bass player and the singer and i went off to form

2, Seven13 which consisted of Me on guitar, My little bro on Drums Andy on bass and a friend from uni on vox. we played a lot around my home town, that ended when i moved interstate. it was re - ignighted for a while when i got back but it died partly through me trusting our new singer too much and not listening to my brothers (they had it right from the start)

3, Sweet Decay - formed in the ashes of seven13 by the singer, i went along with it because at that stage i hadn't seen the "real" jessie. had a lot of fun (and hard times) with that one! played alot around s/e QLD but i was never happy with the songs that i felt were too rushed and rather shit! designed to just get us on stage, we were really sloppy and was a prime example of style over substance, that ended when we all left jess becuase we were sick of feeling like hired hands ..... the whole band had a really bad vibe to it and i felt that the singer was in it for the wrong reasons
(incedently the same happened to him with the new line up and as we found out had happened before.)

4, current band - the sever project. i'm very happy in this band becuase everyone is cool! no ego's just cool guys (we all fall under the geek catagry) it's just well thought out metal really quite tech but still very listenable! there are 7 of us and it sounds like the sky is falling in. we have only done a few shows but we are already turning heads without stupid gimics.

there other bands but these are the most memorable!

Bands ok

I was in a lot of bands/groups lets see how many I can remember. A lot of them did not get very far, only a few gigs. Some more memerable ones.

1 - Mass Confusion: One of my first bands. This was in Highschool, we wrote a lot of our own music, played covers. We were a grundge band when the Seatle sound was really sort of peeking. We broke up finally in senior year when I felt the music was not challenging enough nor were we able to get a bassplayer to stay with us. Subsequently our last bassist went on as lead guitarist in what is now a very popular Canadian rock band that has hit records etc.

2 - No Feedback - was a band that never got anywhere outside of rehersal but it was a fun band, we were a lighter band then MC, still rock though. This was in Highschool as well. I met my best friend in this band, he even played bass in the 1st band I listed but didn't work. He is a good song writer. Broke up because of inner politics

3 - In University I studied music. I played in the University Jazz ensemble as well as lead my own Jazz Trio (Jazz Odyssey Trio) which held concerts each semester. I co-lead a quintet that played fairly often around campus.

4 - Browbeat was a sort of Jazz/Rock mostly Jazz trio which was a great group. We had a semi-regular gig in a non-jazz loving city. Uni kids liked to come hear us play. We had a demo, wrote our own music a fair amount. That band broke up because I wasn't interested in the social climate that was evolving in the group (to many drugs) and that I was ready to move to the states.

I had played in a lot of musical siuations mostly subbing in bands or short stays in them and about a dozen bands that never got off the ground because no one wanted to put the time into it. From Metal to Blues to Classic Rock. I was sort of a constant sideman if you will, able to play with anyone but I guess I was to good for anyone to want me to join their group full time because smeone didn't want to lose their spot to me. Happens all the time.

We had a band called Senderos back in 1995. We played mainly romantic music and soft rock, i was the vocalist and when i tried to become a writer as well, the band split up 'cause my writing was too hard an not in line with the band's spirit. Damn, were those great times, i still cherish our first public concert as one of my greatest experiences of all time, just there next to my first kiss and my first time.

Park Way - 'Swing' type big band jazz from 6 or 7 middleschoolers with instruments that our parents bought for us. We had a suprising sound, and actually had a few decent original songs.

Tozix Penguin - Ska, odd group of people that actually managed to get along really well (although the lead singer was dating the Yoko Ono of Toxic Penguin, who eventually drove the group apart). We played several local battle of the bands, beating the now famous Pappa Roach on one occasion.

First band I was in didn't have a name. There were four of us until we went through a "Yoko Ono" period. I'm sure I don't need to explain what that was. We were in high school and we did a lot of Beatles covers and towards the end we tried some originals. I played bass and keyboards and sang.

Since then I've been in a lot of different jazz groups. I was also in my university jazz ensemble, playing piano. I've tried to start a few different things over the years, but without realizing it, was heading towards a dead end everytime I tried to play the standard jazz rep. (always had shoes to fill).

I finally feel I have something to offer. I now have a band that's working on all my original stuff. It's called Arkana and we're working towards our first recording.

I'm also in a crazy klezmer/rock band called Klezfactor, which I've been doing for a couple of years and we have one album out.

Junkie

My first band was "Untamed Youth". This was back in 85-87. 60's garage band stuff.

Then I was in many bands that never really went anywhere. Lots of expiremental stuff.

I was in a band called "Junk" in 95 that came pretty close to success. We toured the NorthEast for quite a while. Dysfunction among the members broke that up. Same old store.

I joined a Gospel/R&B/Swing band for a while so that I could brush up on those particular skills. That band was called "Jungle Room".

I stopped playing for a few years because I was so fed up with the music scene here.

Now I'm in a band called "Chess Club" our first CD should be out in about two weeks.

None of the bands I've been in have progressed to the point of having names. Mostly I've done glorified jam sessions, occasionally with an audience.

I occasionally toy with the idea of semi-seriously pursuing a band as a hobby and/or career, but I don't have the time or initiative just now.

"Acapocalypse", a 7 man a cappella group which aimed for as much noise as possible. Ended with a whimper when two members moved away.

I've never been in a 'real' band either, but I've been in a few glorified jam session bands at various places. One semi-regular stint was at this music shop off the square. Our playing would draw folks in off the street, which pleased the store owner. The 3 or 4 of us who showed up regularly unofficially called ourselves the "Gratefully Fed" because the guy running the place would have pizza delivered that we could help ourselves to in between songs.

We thought we were soooo clever.

I've only had 2 serious bands in the past.

One was Five Bridges Burned or something like that, it's been a while... There were 5 of us and we all had different genres of music in mind so it came out an interesting array of rock/metal. We had the compelxity of Tool, electronics of Nine Inch Nails and the harshness of say... In Flames and Opeth. It was really great... until we had some bassist issues and we mutually went seperate ways.

Basically me, the drummer and the other guitarist started a little band with some guy from Michigan. This was more electonica influenced, kind of like MSI. It only lasted for a month or two and that was it.

Now my current band is just me. I do everything and have performed live shows with the aid of other folks... it's 'Force.is.Machine'. You all can check me here www.myspace.com/forceismachine

Alright, enough with the shameless self promotion.

Former bands; Factor8. We were a big hometown favorite but ended up spliting when the lead guitarist and I (rhythm gui./lead vocals) decided we weren't into Emo-pop anymore. We had an interesting New Wave meets Emo cult following before bands like Panic! at the Disco and The Killers started playing mainstream.

Current; The Incendiary Hearts. It started as an acoustic side project for me that was very The Shins meets Iron & Wine but slowly progressed into a new sound when I joined with a university friend. I guess you could call it... Indie Folk Rock. Something like The Decemberists meets Deathcab's most recent albums. Not a fan of labeling but I guess you could call it that. It seems trends always follow me... damn OC
