How to chage a headlamp in a GrandAm
I have a '99 Grand Am w/a blown headlamp. I was told to just open the hood, take off the top cover, and voila - no problem. Can't happen. My local mechanic even took off the grill to try and figure it out - couldn't do it.
I can't believe it would be that difficult to change a lamp. It had to go in someway! Does anyone know? |

lol, well, those cars ARE wierd, but i cant believe your mechanic had a problem, maybe you should find a new mechanic.
anyways, there should be two 90 degree angle pins at the top of the headlight that turn outwards (towards yourself) and then pull up and out, then the whole headlight should fall right out and from there you should be able to change them... im not sure iif they did that in '99 or not but it worth a look at

You have to take the air deflector off, It's held in place by about six plastic fasteners.
You will see two metal retainers, these must be slipped out. One will come all the way out, the other will swing up out of your way. Then you can lift the headlamp assembly away far enough to change the bulb. |
