What to do when you can't get a car out of your head?
Post it of course.

In that case, this car has been stuck in my head since I was six.

Fair 'nuf. What does it for me is some sense of being attainable. While I'd jump all over a DB9 I'd have to win the lottery to afford the insurance. On the other hand, an Ariel Atom or Lotus Exige are at the edge of what I could afford while keeping something else more reasonable for daily duties.
BTW, I would be much more terrified driving Eleanor on the streets than the Lotus. There's something sacred about that car. |
Sacred or no, I will not die without one and I plan on naming my first born daughter Shelby.
|
For me, that life long lust would be for a Ford GT40. Of course that'll never happen but I can hope one day to perhaps have the new Ford GT instead, a most adequate substitute.

Yea when I am obsessed with a car I download as many pictures of it as possible, and learn as much about it as possible. I have over 1,500 car pictures saved on my hard drive.
Often times I go as far as buying a diecast model of it and displaying it on my self (I also tend to take a lot of pictures of it). 1:18th scale models really are a fun thing to collect for any car enthusiast. You can find pretty much any popular car in 1:18th scale (the size thats about 7-9 inches long), as well as a lot of not so popular cars. I buy all mine on ebay; most new ones are 25-30, some up to 70 or higher depending on the brand. AutoART is the best, and offer a very wide variety of car manufacturers. You can get used/open ones still in good shape for really cheap though. It's a good way to take your "dream garage" to the next step. Another way I cope with car obsession is to play a game like Grand Turismo, Need for Speed Underground, Forza Motorsports, or any game that allows modding (and includes your desired car, of course) and mod the car to how I would have it in real life. I also do a bit of 3D modeling (www.toddfx.com if you're interested in my gallery), and sometimes model the car or find a model of it and modify it to how i'd like it. |
69 Chevy Camaro SS
http://home.cogeco.ca/~tylerdonlon/c..._Camaro_02.jpg I will own one of these one of these days! (hopfully the SS/RS 454:D) |
Yep, I like the RS nose.
A buddy of mine had a 68 or 69 RS/SS. He bought it ~'89 when they were still cheap. His father was big on car restoration, so he grew up gaining the talents to make it like new again. Didn't hurt having access to the best shop one could hope for. That was a beautiful car. Done right by a detail fanatic. He sold it a few months before getting a job that would have allowed him to keep it. Maybe a year or two before the market went insane. Still brings a tear to my eye. |

I'm not sure where "in a rejection-fueled fury" actually is ...even though I think I've been there a few times... but I assume you know that the Exige is/will shortly be sold in the U.S. Just last night I was looking at another little editorial about the Exige in GrassRootsMotorSports magazine and was contemplating the under $60k price it will have; less if you don't go with the leather interior and airco. I can't wait to see that car at some upcoming track days; I've been on track already with a few Elises but the Exige does more to tweek my magic twanger. |
uh...
Sho nuf, you must be young, Unique Performance has only been making those since 2002...
 |

You get the point smart guy. Dont have a good photo of the 65  |
I saw this bad boy at a local cruise-in this past summer.
http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/m.../100_0017c.jpg Now, with so many clones around it was nice to see this, an original, but even better it is the only one I ever saw with the factory supercharger option. The guy that brought the car is the original owner! http://sarasotadetail.com/gallery2/m.../100_0019c.jpg |
to swing this somewhat back on target i found this today... probably not going to help the lust too much though...

Jet fuel??:hmm: |
The lightning bolt is the master electrical cut-off. The "E" is the external extinguisher trigger/actuator.
If you see an airsoft gun in the pits, put duct-tape over your extinguisher trigger. Curse you guys and your continued torment. I don't like the colors, but I'll take the specs in black today thank you. |
Hmmm...I used to just change my idea of what was awesome alot, but recently, have begun to appreciate a broad spectrum of cool. My one reserve is hating cars that get a wing before the rust gets fixed. I have a great interest in cars and trucks that have been modified but are still daily drivers. Something about longevity is sexy, like cindy crawford, you know.
