For those of you that haven't heard the powertrain is rumored to be a 3.6 liter v6 twin-turboed with a minimum of 400 hp, probably 450 hp. It is using a new version of the Atessa AWD.

It's the Skyline.

They're still RHD, no?

Now for the $64,000 question: how much will it cost? Without a doubt this thing is vastly superior to the Evo and the STi, but what's the price penalty for the added performance? My understanding is that this thing will probably cost 50 or 60 grand. Has anyone else heard rumors to this effect?

I.... think I've just creamed my pants.

400 hp twin turboed gazoomer-thingey in a Nissan? A skyline? AWD?

/creams pants again

And it looks pretty hot, too... swap out the front bar-grille thing and get something with intercooler mesh... mmmmm

Snazzy. Hope it gets shipped here

In the States, around $38k for a loaded 6 speed, aka the '06 Infiniti G35 Coupe.

If you want it imported and made legal for the US, yeah.

It would be crazy to pay an extra $50k to have a japanese-spec car shipped to the States, when you can go to your local Infiniti dealer and get the same car for under $40k. I bet it's been done, too.

Wow, I had no idea that you could get the turbo inline six in the Infinity G35. Makes those Skyline importers look pretty stupid, doesn't it?

The current Skyline/G35 isn't turbocharged. It has a normally-aspirated 280/298hp 3.5 liter engine. The car above is a prototype, an experimental concept/prototype meant for auto shows and car magazines. I hope the new GT-R more resembles the prototype than the current Skyline.

Autoweek is reporting that an NA 4.5 liter V8 in the 450hp range is also being considered as the powerplant for this car.

Salomon, I am entirely aware that the G35 isn't turbocharged: that was my point. Earlier, you said:

But, the G35 and the Skyline GT-R are not even close to the same vehicle. Yeah, they are platform mates, but the major differences are in the powertrains. The current generation Skyline (the R34, I mean) had a turbo inline six (2.8 liter, I think), while the G35 has a naturally aspirated V-6 of 3.5 liters. And although the Skyline is "officially" rated at 276 horsepower, everyone knows that the real number is astronomically higher.

It doesn't make sense to criticize people for paying 50 grand more for the Skyline over the G35 because the Skyline is a vastly, vastly superior car.

They got Twin-Turbo kits for that engine

Or just buy the 350Z-TT and there you go

?Donde esta cuatro wheel drive en la 350Z? Or, in Ingles, where is the 4 wheel drive in the 350Z? That is the gaping difference here. Plus, the Z is a TOURING based car, whereas the Skyline was built for performance.

Sort of...currently, the G35 (both the coupe & sedan) in the States is known as the Skyline in Japan. There hasn't been a Skyline with the GT-R designation since 1999 though. So, yes, the Skyline & Skyline GT-R are different cars, but with seperate platforms. Blame Nissan for the odd marketing.

I don't think so, because they come from performance shops not the dealer.

I care about it, inasmuch as it's the fastest way to go.
I'm with you, though, on preferring RWD. Fast cars are frankly already fast enough. I want a car that feels fast, really fast, when it's actually going slowly.

It's a little too close to the new Z for my liking. I would rather see a bit more of the skyline look and a little less of the Z.
