Jesus tapdancing christ! Until seeing this, I had no idea about this. Did he survive?

He did survive, was out for a few months and came back. Two years later he almost won the Daytona 500, ended up finishing third. That was one the worst wrecks I have ever seen, right up there with Stan Fox's wreck in the '95 Indy 500.

Yeah, that was one heck of a wreck. I remember seeing that. To imagine that he all but walked away is amazing. I've got footage of other nasty wrecks laying around here somewhere...should get 'em on the computer and upload 'em.

Hard to believe he lived. I don't think I've ever seen worse in NASCAR. Lucky boy.

I wonder if those people in the stands who were right at the impact/explosion point were ok. Looks like a few of them could have been pretty well engulfed in that fireball.

If my memory serves me right, I believe a few did get injured. The trucks didn't use restrictor plates, right?

I remember that. Very nasty crash. Something happened just as bad recently at the O'Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals a couple of weekends ago. Ken Kortesky and Bruce Allen in the Prostock Division had a very bad crash. These cars are going 200 MPH in less than 7 seconds and when your car starts turning towards the wall, it's hard not to oversteer................and flip on to your side, in the same lane as your opponent, and have your opponent hit your car's undercarriage, bursting your car into 1000 pieces................

If you have a crash like that doing AutoX, you're doing it wrong.

Holy crap, I thought the Bodine wreck was bad, but that drag race crash was craziness. Did that guy live through that? I can't see how. If so, he needs to give some engineer somewhere a big hug.

Care to elaborate on that? Why shouldn't trucks go to Daytona?

Seriously, I'm not trying to be a smart ass or anything like that... I am just curious as to why you would say that? I wasn't aware that the truck crashes were any worse than the cars.

What he really needed was to drive strait through it on the high side, we got some special tires on the back, gonna get some extra grip, all Bob Duvall Style.

I know about the wreck also (dad is a HUGE NHRA fan). Both drivers are completely fine.
