Mustang GT 1991 Issues

A friend mine was replacing the starter cable, and when he reconnected battery another wire on the cellinoid, keeps melting in half. The radio has no power and when key is turned nothing happens.

possibly there,is a dead short some where! a wire on the manifold? look around , somewhere there is a hot wire or wires going to ground. look for melted coating on wires, good luck.

Ok on the typical ford soleinoids you have 3 main connection points

Power In

Power out

and starter signal

Ok the starter signal is the small wire that tells the vehicle to crank the engine over.

The power in is where the batter hooks up and the feeds for all your acessories.

The power out is the thick wire that connects to the starter.

The main problems people have is where all connections for all the acessories hook up sometimes get shorted against a part of the solenoid that is ground..causing burnt wires...
