Has anybody else seen the specs on this thing!?

1001 BHP, 900+lbs of torque, TESTED top-speed of 254MPH. Production run is 50 units per year, and the selling price is currently set at 1.3 million USD. Someone's already selling on on eBay.

This car is a whole new definition of "Sick."

I think it's pretty safe to say that auction isn't for real. It doesn't even have pictures of the actual car. Those pictures are just production pictures you can find on the web. And a 1.7 million dollar car would have more than a paragraph written about it, and wouldn't look like it's copied from a car preview website.

As for the car... pretty insane specs but personally i'm not too into it's design.

I think it's an auction for the rights to purchase it when it hits the US. The seller appears to be legit.

I don't like that he doesn't know the engine. The Veyron's W16 was hyped quite a bit I thought, if this guy is actually selling one (or even rights to one) he ought to know the specs.

Me, if I had $1.7m to spend on a car and wanted a Veyron, I'd contact Bugatti directly.

EDIT - Oops, I just realized that he has the engine specs in the write-up. I still stand by my thinking that anyone who has the means to buy one is more likely to contact (or be contacted by) Bugatti directly.

I totally agree. I mean, I would hazard a guess and say you need at least $10 million in the bank (probably $20 million would be a safer guess) to buy a car like this. And with this amount of cash, you might go to the Internet to get a price but you probably wouldn't buy it online.

I know they sell Ferrari's and other exotics on Ebay Motors but if I had the cash...I don't believe I would buy my car on the Internet.

Jackebear - especially when you consider how marketing in that price range works. I don't know if Bugatti contacts potential buyers or not, but I know other companies selling high price vehicles like that do. Have you seen the coffee table book Maybach sends out? I don't think I could even afford the book, let alone the car, but when you make that much on each sale and have a market that limited, personalized individual marketing is very feasible. If you're on the Fortune 500 list and can actually afford one of these monsters, odds are all you have to do is sit back and wait for the folks at Bugatti to call.

This is a good example of a lagit auction for a similarly exotic car. One of these was auctioned a few months ago, and somebody bought it. I know the deal went through, because positive feedbacks were left on both ends.

If the Bugatti guy expects to get any business, he definitly needs to at least look more professional, and probably get some personalized pictures of the car. I never buy anything that has a general image of the product that can be found on the internet, even if the item is just a few dollars much less over 1.7 million. The first Enzo auction proves people WILL buy online, but only from a professional dealer it seems.

Does this guy really know what he's selling? That's two mistakes, one grammatical and one technical, in two sentences.

I dont think that this car is in the U.S. yet so how is the dealer going to get personal pics of the car at his dealership if he does not have the car yet. And at only 50 cars a year he is going to get what 5, if that, maybe 3. I do agree that if I am buying an almost 2 million dollar car I am going to the dealership and not bidding on something on the internet.

How so? The Bugatti W-18 engine has been around since the late 1990s, although I think the Veyron is they first production car it's been slapped into. There was talk, for a time, of putting it in their sedan, but I think that largely fell through, although it may have remained a custom option.
