1999 VR6 Jetta - Air Pump Problem
I have a 1999 Jetta VR6, and according to a couple mechanics that took a look, the air pump is broke. They told me it doesn't effect the car, it's just really noisy. Does anyone know if I can just unhook or remove it from my car?

If you disconnect or remove it, I believe it'll set a check engine light. Get a unit from a junkyard, or something.

The air pump is pretty much an electric smog pump, they are an expensive item new and they sell for fairly alot of money used (I sold one on ebay a few months ago for $180). If you state isnt' strict on emission you don't really need it, I talk to one of my friends that removed his and see what he has to say about it.
