How many speeding tickets have you gotten throughout your life?

So far I have 2 speeding tickets.

Here in PA, it takes 6 points before "serious action" is taken.

A year without an offense takes 3 points off your record.

I got a speeding ticket for going 70 in a 55 (15 over, 1 point per 5 mph = 3 points). Then a little over a year later, I got caught again.. Same spot, same speed, only difference was a state trooper got me that time. So the most points I had at one time was 3, which isn't too bad.

I don't have a car currently, so I once again have returned to 0 points. I'm 21 btw, just to put things into perspective. :)

How many tickets have you gotten so far?

sixate 04-20-2003 08:08 AM

I got my first one a few months ago on my way to Cleveland to see my stupid dad. Cost me $83.

DEI37 04-20-2003 08:41 AM

Don't even get me started here. I'd imagine that in the ten years I've been driving, I've accumulated some 16+ tickets. Most were for 10+ over. I haven't had one in over two years now, so that I am VERY happy about. It's been the same amount of time since a reportable accident.

a1t3r3g0 04-20-2003 08:59 AM

And I speed like a demon.
I guess cops don't want to pull me over.. on a few occasions I have driven past them going 20+ over in the interstate while they are sitting on the side running radar. I really need to stop speeding...

I've been driving for about 4 years now (I am 19).

Spyder_Venom 04-20-2003 09:00 AM

I have gotten a few but never had to pay - its a good idea to have a lawyer in the family :D

Dude, do you still have a liscense?

ltdaywalker 04-20-2003 09:12 AM

Well looks like I take the cake so far on number of tickets. Im 18 and I have gotten 6, however only on went on my record. Illinois' system of court supervision is amazing, supposedly if you get a ticket and get supervision, you cant get another one in 3 months or they will both go on your record. Well I can attest that Ive been on supervision for 3 tickets at once so they obviously arent too strict. But 6 in a little over 2 years, thats a 3 per year avg. Haha, im such an idiot.

Zotz 04-20-2003 09:26 AM

Three total.....the last one was in 1990. The highway patrol used a freaking plane to catch a bunch of us. They were timing how long it took us to go from one of those white squares on the highway to the next. My radar detector never went off. A few miles down the road, we were stopped at a roadblock. I think they had 20 or 30 cars pulled over and everyone was getting a ticket.

kipperoo3 04-20-2003 09:51 AM

0 tickets, but I've been pulled over plenty of times.... you know, my cruise is broken, stuff like that :-)

0001 04-20-2003 02:21 PM

One. 3 days after getting my license, did 145 in a 50 zone. $460 later, I don't speed anymore.

laconic1 04-20-2003 05:45 PM

I've never had a ticket, fortunately. Driving a bland car like my Chevy Corsica helps. My old roommate drove a 2002 Mustang, and even though he usually drives slower than me he got 5 tickets during the school year.

degrawj 04-20-2003 06:10 PM

only one so far, knock on wood.

bundy 04-20-2003 06:21 PM

*sobs*
i think i got done by a speed camera last night.
my first time.

apetaster 04-20-2003 06:32 PM

Zero. Been driving for 11 years and call 80 my top speed. Go at a good clip on the highways but keep it w/in 10 on secondary streets.

zfleebin 04-20-2003 06:46 PM

I dont know how many ive gotten so far but i got my first one when I was driving my first week with a permit. gotta love photoradar

440sixpack 04-20-2003 07:34 PM

2, one by a local town cop and one by a NY statie. None for going on 7 years now and I'd like to keep it that way. I've never minded the fine, I figure if you get busted breaking the law that's the price you pay; it's the damn insurance points that kill me.

oane 04-20-2003 08:20 PM

I got just one. ( Or shall I say Oane?!)

The bastardo clocked me going Five Kmph over the limit. There was not a single car in 500 Mtr. range. He just blocked my path and started writing the ticket.

splck 04-21-2003 10:41 AM

I had about 10 or 12 over the years. Been ticket free for 6 years now. One year I had 5 on the books, I was driving on probation for 1 year.

Sparky 04-21-2003 12:09 PM

I have only been "caught" once in my 11 years of driving, but it was a big one. 90 in a 55. Luckily, the cop was a friend of friend so he knocked it down for me.

llama 04-22-2003 02:21 AM

i don't wanna jinx it, but i have yet to get my first speeding ticket. I don't speed too much..i average about 100 on main streets, and about 160 on highway (thats in km/h)...

I wish i was in illinois...thats where im orig from...\

We have a lawyer who can get out of any ticket...

I had one for 10 over...stayed the court date twice, got supervision, then dropped supervision

fun stuff

Now im out in AZ where some of the cops let you do 50 in a 40 and others will nab you for 43 in a 40

Stupid fuckers

thadon 04-22-2003 09:50 AM

So far I've been pulled over 10 plus times and only received 4 tickets luckily

woolley bear 04-23-2003 04:45 PM

Oh to be young again, I probably got thirty or forty in my life time, on cars and motorcycles. I once got 11 tickets in one stop, many years ago although I was doing about 116 mph when they clocked me from a plane, That we'll sure make you change a plea when they have you on video. That was in a 73 mach 1 with a big block Still drive it we both are older and slower now no tickets in 10 years now

Minus000 04-25-2003 03:15 PM

None, thanks to the Radar Detector I bought. Here in B.C. they are legal.

mturner333 05-02-2003 10:28 AM

Two, one 102mph in a 70mph ~ $275 & one 85 in a 55 ~ $53, and the sad thing was that I had the radar detector on the whole time!

Not the true speed above :) My girlfriends speedometer bouces during long drives.

BigJayz 05-02-2003 10:34 AM

hahahaha!!! I was like DAMN! thats sweet!

I've gotten two in my life and I'm 31. I got both of them in my old camaro, both within a week of eachother and it was the week my best friend broke my radar detector. I shoulda made him pay!

charliex 05-02-2003 03:02 PM

never had a speeding ticket, one for a red light in the UK, and another ticket for $650 in seattle, i don't go to seattle anymore

the joys of an international license, no records ;)

i don't about radar detectors that will avoid a speeding ticket, best advice i got was save the money for the ticket. unless you can brake faster than the speed of sound/light ( for the lasers )

samiam 05-03-2003 08:55 AM

I haver only had one speeding ticket in more years than I wish to remember. THe major reason is that , living in the city, speeding tickets are nothing more than a traffic tax I prefer not to pay.

Serpent 05-03-2003 09:10 AM

i got 1 for doing 63 in a 45... thing was everyone was going 60 and i was in the left hand lane, closest to the motorcycle cops radar or laser.. 173 dollar fine. Funny thing was (i got the ticket bit less then a year ago) the come uses the same spot to grab people, saw him get a guy 2-3 weeks ago heh.

impirius7 05-04-2003 09:35 PM

zeeeero. done my fair share of speeding in the less than a year i've been driving, but i'm part careful and part lucky. *knock knock* on wood.

Corinthian 05-08-2003 11:13 AM

Never had a (speeding)ticket yet. I am 23. Somebody else mentioned driving a bland car... I have to agree considering I'm regularly running 90 mph in my Beretta.

Ryan 05-08-2003 03:09 PM

Two speeding tickets in my lifetime..Both on the same god damn road too. I guess i just dont learn my lesson.

The speed limit on the road is 45 mph, and the first time i got a ticket I dont even remember how fast I was going. However, the second time I was goign about 65.

Godfrey 05-09-2003 10:25 PM

I've had at least 10 in 6 different states. Got my first one when I was 16 and going to take my drivers license test. They pulled me over in front of the drivers license examiners office. Couldn't take my test. They said the weather was too bad!

ducati999 05-09-2003 11:38 PM

I have a Camaro Z28 and I have gotten 0 tickets, only been pulled over once, cop pulled up next to me, yelled at me and drove away.

SilverFox 05-11-2003 09:20 PM

Only one, two weeks after I got my license. $331 is a lot of money to pay when you're seventeen. I tend not to speed anymore.

phyzix525 05-12-2003 11:49 AM

OK, driving now for like 7 years, I have a clean record cause in OK if you are caught going under 10 over then it does not go on your record. I have about a half dozen of those. But the worst ticket I ever got was an 80$ ticket I got for squeeling my tires at a light in florida, that was some weak shit. I hate motorcycle cops.

chodarama 05-18-2003 09:37 PM

2 tickets in 7 years of driving

one going ~65 in a 45 (speed trap on a highway) cost $70

another going 75 in a 65 (another highway) cost $60

3x0 05-18-2003 11:11 PM

I've got no tickets so far.
1.5 yrs driving, around 6.000 km

m0j0 05-18-2003 11:45 PM

I just had one speeding ticket in california. Cost me 200 dollars.
