Acura door paneling.
I'm hoping there are a few of you who are familiar with Honda/Acura interiors who can help me out with this one. So today I was trying to take out my stock speakers in the front, on the door, and put in the new ones of my 97 3.2 TL. I ran into a problem getting the door panel off. I dont think that the door panel uses the clips to hold it in place, I think that the panel might be held on by a bolt.
I get this feeling because on the bottom left corner of the inside of the door panel, when I looked inside the panel, there was a big bolt lookin thing, as opposed to the clips that are used on the panels around the rest of the interior of the car. Another reason why I think this is because the door panel didn't pop off easily as if it were only held on by clips. I tried to pry it off, but I could only go so far, I didn't want to break the panel off and not be able to put it back on. I decided to just give it a rest seince I was running short on time, and hopefully I can attack it next time knowing what to do with that bolt. Anyone out there familiar with Acura door panels that can verify/correct my theorem?

you shouldnt have to take the whole panel off.....my older acura just had a grill that you could take off to get to the panel. Otherwise, check behind the door handle etc for screws. Althouhg most acuras do use those little clips to hold panels on.

Besides behind the door handle they also like to put them behind the lights and sometimes even vents and pockets also under the armrest. The panel is probably held by some combination of clips, bolts, and screws. If the panel is really tight when you pull on it chances are good there's something holding it. Take a step back and look and see if there's anything else you can take off.
The first time I take off a door panel I haven't before there's always one of those moments when you say to yourself who designed the thing with a screw there? |

Good luck with that. I have never taken off a door panel and been able to reattach it properly. Two doors on my car are missing a few clips, and the two cars that I'm going ot junk (unrelated) have entire panels that just won't go back on.
There are two things that, regardless of my skill in related areas, I cannot do. One is making eggs over easy without breaking the yolks, the other is reattaching door panels. |

With my Acura Integra.. kinda related I guess being in the Acura vein.. there is one screw in the little cup thingy in the door, and one hidden behind a plastic flap on the door pull itself.
Just tug a bit on the door.(not too hard though) and see where it hangs up at. Then check around that area for hidden hardware. If not...see if you can find an online source for the Factory Maintenance book for the car. They have every nut and bolt in the car listed on there!
