Horn to brakes
I need to know how to Hook it up so when someone puts on the brakes the horn blows.
Please be very specific. Thanks |
I've always held the opinion that if you want to fuck with someone's car (NOT cool BTW -this will earn you a beating from many car owners) you should learn how to do it yourself.

yah... i'm with shakran on this one...

it's a wiring question second, an ethics question first. anyhow...it would depend on the model. my honda has the horn hooked through the car's computer, if recall correctly. others, its' just a switch. it's technicallly a crime to do that, becuase it fucks with the saftey systems of the car.

Would if somehow his brakes don't work???

Don't do it, and don't try to figure it out on your own. If you don't know what you're doing (which probably involves wiring into the factory horn relay or adding one of your own) then it will likely blow the fuse for the brake light circuit which will not only make the horn trick not work, but your buddy will be driving around without brake lights not knowing anything's wrong. Imagine having to explain that he's laid up in the hospital with a neck brace (or worse yet--dead) because of a dumb prank you played.
I'm a fan of the more subtle psychological stuff. For instance, make up an excuse to borrow his car, then go get a copy of its key. Then every few days while he's at school/work/whatever, do weird little things like move it down 4 or 5 spaces, back it into its spot if he usually parks nose-first, leave the radio tuned to a polka station, etc. After several days of doing this, casually bring up the topic of mental illness and how it distorts your perception/memory, or how you've been reading up on the theory behind "The Matrix" and the "glitches" in our perceived reality that provide evidence that we're living in a matrix. You get the idea. |
LOL. Ive seen this happen before. Here is a video of a fellow CRX owner pulling this prank on a buddy of his. Pretty funny.
File is 6.5MB in WMV format. http://d7.yousendit.com/C/1UAWCAJSDK.../brakehorn.wmv |
If you have to ask, you cant, and shouldnt do it yourself, at least when it comes to a potentioally dangerous situation. And if someone did it to me (which the coudltn because i dont let anyone near my cars), i would club them with a genoa salami.

it's funny and it's sick and against the law. i like it.eh ti will all be electics now, so you are best looking at the electronic diagrams of the car. I hate the electric side of things.

No help here I see.
We have a family car shop where we all work. And I am the "interior guy" mostly. I work under dashes and striping and putting them back together, not to mention mecahnical work here and there. I was wondering if there was a quick and simple way to do it without taking apart the horn in the stearing whell, so it would be quick and easy to do and then just as easy to put back. No harm done. So, far im thinking of adding a new horn attached to the battery with the switch under the break. a few screws an inline fuse and 5 ft of wire. So, I wouldnt have to deal with taking the dash apart. Its and older junker car my lil brother uses. I didn't to take the horn button apart and junp the swicth and rewire it into the break light switch on the pedal. Too much time to put into a 10 min prank. |

Well what kind of car are you doing it to? I mean it all depends on Domestic or Import. For example.
An 82 Camaro horn has a wire that signals when you touch the horn to it, completing the circuit. For that application all you would have to do is take that wire and run it down to the break pedal. Then put a piece of metal there on the pedal (if the pedal or pedal arm is coated) and set up the wire to come in contact with that pedal with the slightest depression of the pedal, thus completing the circuit, honking the horn. For some Imported cars you have totally different setups. Some are like switches, some are like levers, some are chip based and some are wire based. You have to give specifics. You should just be able to add a wire to the wiring of the horn into the brake light harness or power wire to the break lights. Then sprice that to the horn wire and it should work when they depress the break. But you could blow the bulb or fuse too. So know what your doing first. |
Even though I love pranks, I'm completely against the brake/horn one. I'm usually a good sport but when a friend stole my windshield wiper blades I was pissed. You'll get plenty of a beatin if you do it.
