Cutouts for exhaust Electric or Manual.
Well I started to plan the exhaust for my mustang. First I was just going to run duals off of the headers into glasspacks then out the back but I don't think thats a good idea, it would sound good but damn it would get me in trouble in a quick hurry. So now I have planned to run some dual flowmaster mufflers and some exhaust cutouts, that way I can be quiet in town and when I get into the country I can be rip roaring loud and the cops can't give me any shit about it :) I was looking at some Quicktime Electric Exhaust or similar cutouts, they seem nice, just a flick of the switch and it's wide open. And I was looking at some manual operates ones you use dual choke cables mounted to the floorboard or dash. Has any had any experience with them? I know they will have to be welded and/or cable routing needs to be done.

I'd use electric. I know they cost more, but the ease of installation and operation would suit ME better. I've thought the same for when I swap in the L67 in to my Olds Cutlass Supreme. If I do it, I'll do electric.

using electric solenoids is the way to go. it operates quickly and smoothly, and installing them is easy. The ones ive seen are mounted into a a chamber (either 2 or 2.5 inches i think). That chamber looks kinda like a loop, and when the solenoid opens, it dumps right out the side. Buyin 2 might be pricey, but u may be able to run one pipe into the solenoid, and duals after it. Just a thought.

Electric open and close quicker. I have seen a couple get stuck in the halfway open position but I think that was more due to shoddy instaling than the product itself. They are wonderful for scaring the crap out of people though.

Electric.
The best idea ever...... boost dependant! One of my buddies has one of these on his GSX and has it set to open at 10psi. It works great! You can get them at forceperformance.net I believe. You have to be running a turbo/supercharger to use it though. Another good idea would be to get a WOT switch like a nitrous system has and hook an electric one up to that... |
