Cadillac STS commercial
Anyone seen that Cadillac STS commercial where a few mercedes and BMWs are driving around some regal hall in uniform fashion to classical music, then the STS comes in and breaks up the party with it's rock n' roll and fierce driving...
at the end, when the STS comes to a stop, the body does a sort of controlled roll on the shocks. I'm wondering if that's just commercial magic or if the STS can actually stabilize like that.

part commercial magic, part reality. it uses the same electromagnetic shocks that where the F54 option on the c5 corvette and are present on the XLR. basicly the EBCM sends differing electrical pulses to the shocks, which the fluid reacts to it by changing its viscosity due to the magnetic particles suspended in it. this is combined with the ride height sensors present on all 4 corners to maintane ride height and roll control.

I think it has an auto-leveling rear suspension but I don't know if that would do what that car does. I've seen the commercial, too, and I think what you're seeing is just a weighty car with a psuedo sporty suspension leveling out on it's struts.
BTW, does that commercial insult the "real" luxury brands by throwing in a Lexus in the mix? I think there's a GS400 in with the M-B's and BMW's. |
