It looks like they are trying to compete with the Chevy SSR. Or the classic El Camino(sp).

It could also be something they pulled out of ford australia. El camino style cars-with-a-bed still sell there as (see the Ford Falcon Ute for a current model year example). The F6 on the license plate would seem to suggest Falcon6 or some such.

Front looks very very euro
Not sure if the idea of racing trucks makes any sense to me.

Not liking it at all. Too much bling bling, looks like a pimp mobil.
i'll wait for something better from ford before i would consider buying one of their cars (apart from the focus whick i like). Back to the drawing would be what i'd say to the designer.

Now as far as this vehicle goes, I think it looks butt ugly. And I'm a Ford fan (well, I drive a Mustang at least). |

That's an Aussie Ford. I6 Turbo ute? Definate Aussie.
They wouldn't bring anything like that over here. We already have the Lightning(which they just killed) so I don't think they would bring a weaker version of it over. Now if they bring over the Falcon sedan...with that turbo 6. We'd have a winner indeed. |

Honestly (and IMO), I think it's really ugly. I wouldn't want to see Ford bring back the Ranchero with something that looks like that. The front end is euro and jap, neither of which are american. I think that American cars should look American. From the Viper and Corvette, to the Magnum and 300c, American cars are really striving to reinvent the American car. Why not go the same route as the Mustang? Just take a ranchero and update from there.

Those headlights are taken directly off the RSX..
The front looks more similar to some of the cars Ford sells outside of the US IMO, kind of like that Austrailian one, I think it's called the Falcon or something. Edit: I didn't read the thread and everything I said has already been discussed. doh |

I'm pretty sure that's a concept that's Australian only. It's based on the Falcon XR6Turbo Ute, like the FPV F6 Typhoon is based on the XR6 Turbo Sedan.
Highly doubt you'd be seeing them in America, market probably wouldn't be there. http://www.fpv.com.au/ is the website of Ford Performance Vehicles, you can probably get some more on the F6 Tornado and the F6 Typhoon there. And it'd be in no way trying to compete with US cars, because it'd be for the Australian market only. Just clearing things up. http://www.fpv.com.au/index.asp?link_id=2.532 is the link for the F6 Tornado if you want to see it. http://www.fpv.com.au/index.asp?link_id=2.440 that is the F6 Typhoon, the sedan. And they're based on styling of currently popular cars in Australia...
