Concept Car: Nissan Skyline

I love this car... The Nissan Skyline is such an awesome import. I'd love to see it here in the USA.

Nissan will continue building the GT-R in the 21st Century, providing the ultimate driving pleasure to even more people worldwide. In its next generation Nissan is looking to introducing the GT-R in other markets worldwide.

In pursuit of ultimate driving pleasure
Successive generations of the GT-R have consistently pursued the ultimate in driving pleasure. Over the years, the GT-R has continued to be a supreme-performance road-going car that delivers superb driving pleasure by responding faithfully to the driver's demands. Just sitting in the driver's seat of the GT-R produces a feeling of excitement that envelops the entire body.
Achieving the ultimate in driving pleasure means that the car must perform exactly as the driver expects. Meeting this expectation requires a faithful response to the driving actions executed by the driver, and the car must convey accurate information to the driver. In other words, the driver has to be able to judge the vehicle's state accurately and instantaneously. Then, through the car's consistently response to the accelerator pedal, steering wheel and brake pedal, the driver enjoys the pleasure of controlling the car at will. There is feeling of solid trust and oneness that forms between the driver and the car in this process, confidently bringing out both the driver's skill and the car's maximum potential.

Consistently providing the best specifications available in every era
If drivers are to enjoy the ultimate in driving pleasure, the car's potential must be raised to the utmost limits. Successive generations of the GT-R have truly incorporated superior specifications even among vehicles in this segment. With its unrivaled power, the engine has delivered outstanding acceleration and top speed combined with a driving sensation. A superior braking system has provided powerful braking performance, and an outstanding suspension has enabled the GT-R to corner with remarkable quickness.
The GT-R has been the showcase for the highest levels of acceleration, cornering and stopping capabilities. The delicate balance between the powerful engine and responsive suspension has been pushed as each system surpassed last generation technology.
As a result of that never-ending process, the GT-R has continued to embody the most advanced technologies available in every era.

Expanding the tradition globally in the 21st-Century
Successive generations of the GT-R have already established an unshakable position in Japan as a result of incorporating the highest levels of technology available in pursuit of ultimate driving pleasure. That superior performance transcended the oceans to make the GT-R the focus of envious looks the world over. Nissan is developing a new generation of GT-R for the 21st Century with the aim of placing it in the spotlight of the global stage, beyond the borders of the Japanese market.

The GT-R displayed at the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show is a concept vehicle which delivers "Ultimate Driving Pleasure" with the best in world-class

I like the skyline too. If they did bring it to America, just gotta watch out for all of those racers.

Spyder_Venom 05-13-2003 10:36 AM

Hummm I love the R-34's but this design is a little radical for me... But its very clean :D

0001 05-13-2003 06:46 PM

They gotta stop watching star trek. The skyline deserves better than this.

No kidding. They destroyed one of the best damn cars on the planet. How could they go from the car below to the car above?

I think that most new cars are getting ugly. Maybe it's just me.
*shrug*

I agree with sixate. The change from the r34 GTR to the new concept one is too radical. It looks more suited to being a 350Z variation rather than a Skyline one. I am surprised however that the speedo on the r34 only goes up to 200kmh....!

clonmult 05-14-2003 01:30 AM

That speedo measures in MPH, not KM/H .....

And I've never thought the Skyline a good looking car, purposeful maybe, but not a looker. They're also much to lardy, need to go on a diet.

thepakratjr 05-14-2003 05:53 AM

Everyone prolly knows my answer to if I like it or not... Ruined, just ruined... :(

focalevo 05-14-2003 12:16 PM

There is a place in America that you CAN get your own Skyline. It's a company called MotoREX in California. They import all varieties, from early R32's to the last couple R34's.

The Skyline was never intended to look good,(although I find it quite the looker), it was a purpose built car, and will never die as long as we have Gran Torismo on the Playstation. (Yes, I own several Skylines, all very well tuned).

w3r7y 05-14-2003 03:34 PM

that skyline looks like one of those fugly GM concept cars.. I doubt that model will ever come out.

The skyline is one of the best ricers out there, to turn it into that pos is a sacrilege

MSD 05-15-2003 06:38 AM

Maybe it's just because it's the concept car, but how do you shift? I see no shifter.

pilot123 05-15-2003 12:40 PM

I saw pics of the r35 a few months ago somewhere, but Im not sure where. I think the design above is ugly and is nothing like I saw. I do think however it is not going to be either of those because I heard they were going to tone it down a bit to bring it to the U.S. Make it a 4 door, etc... Bull Shit I say, bring us the R34 for a good price and we will be happy, but dont bring us that concept, it is way to ugly.

focalevo 05-15-2003 01:52 PM

If you want to see the available Skylines in America, go to www.skylinegtr.com

This is were you CAN have a legal Skyline.

pezking4 05-15-2003 05:02 PM

http://wallpapers.jbcarpages.com/Nis...ont%201280.jpg

R34 definately takes the appearance crown.
Of course that R35 concept is.. well.. a concept.. and the design should be toned down by the time the actual car is produced.

acpower 05-16-2003 12:13 AM

i guess you guys don't but i dig the way the r35 concept looks.. cept the flat boring box looking rear end

liquid_dreams 05-16-2003 12:16 PM

i really like the new one i'd like one

Snoogans 05-16-2003 03:03 PM

a few parts of it looks pretty cool, but as a whole I don't like it.
If I was insanely rich I'd buy one and strip it for parts.

-Ever- 05-16-2003 10:05 PM

the original is amazing, but for a new gen car, I'm actually pretty into it. I mean cmon, what if it were as ugly as the new rx-8

Loki 05-17-2003 03:10 AM

If i had the money, i would buy that car on the spot. I think it looks very sexy. The old skylines look fine too :D

deepinjello 05-17-2003 05:38 AM

Not like i'll ever be able to afford one anyways. *sigh*

mr_mcrafe 05-18-2003 02:39 AM

The new rx8 is beautiful. That concept is fugly, but a concept only.

Its kinda funny how usa doesnt get gtrs :P

Long live NZ~

I leve in the US. It's definitely not funny.

solkanar112 06-15-2003 09:34 PM

ummm, the "skyline" is actually here in the states as the Infinity G-35 sport coupe. If you want a GT-R, you can't get it here.... Cafe restrictions and emissions overall are too much of a problem to deal with here.

If all you are looking for is speed, go for the Subaru WRC or WRX-STi, or wait a bit for the B11s to come out and blow everyone's doors off. (oh, assuming you can't afford the bugatti veyron)

snowace56 06-17-2003 11:50 AM

The concept is interesting...some good and bad things in it...im sure the finished design will be much more deserable

focalevo 06-17-2003 12:51 PM

Not to be too much of a dick or anything, but do you guys read all the previous posts before you make your post?? I ask because I have already posted a link to a site that DOES sell real Skylines in America, and they are street legal. Go to www.skylinegtr.com and check them out for yourselves.

To each their own opinions, but please read the previous posts, Thanks :)

well stated. It is important to read the other posts, as sometimes arguments have already been hashed out, and new directions have already taken in a thread...

It's not just you.

By the way, little known fact:
The Infiniti G35 is actually the American version of the Skyline. So, if you want to lobby to save its distinct styling, you're too late.

Skyline is a kind of chili here in Cincinnati. It's good shit

I had the same question, my guess would be paddle shifters. Honestly though, all I see in that car is a 350z with the worlds fugliest back end.

jorgemendoza 06-19-2003 12:02 AM

The skyline is an awesome car. Ever since I spotted it in GT3, I've been a fan. But I must say that that concept model of it sucks. It looks too much like a new Z or G35 and has none of the classice skyline looks that I've come to love. If they bring a skyline to the US I'd like to see something more along hte lines of the older models, not something based off of this thing.

that's what i thought, and from what i've heard the GT-R variant is done in japan....at least for now

ataylor20 06-21-2003 06:32 AM

I dont care what anybody says... I LOVE THE GTR SKYLINE!! I caught on to it first in Gran Turismo and since then it has been my all time favorite care! They just look so bad ass! And there foregin so you know they will last forever! I hope the US gets on imported....

GREAT POST MAN... LOVE THE CAR!!

RoloTomassy 06-22-2003 01:16 AM

It's the 350Z's older, more badass brother

RemyLebeau97 06-30-2003 12:15 PM

That concept car looks like something I've seen on StarWars, they just took the 350Z and gave it a boob job.

Cynthetiq 06-30-2003 12:53 PM

the more i look at this the more i can see a G35 in there...

Most concept cars most of the time look good on the front but not the back or the other way around, but this one has a sexy ass and front end;)

There are no specs on this website(to bad)

tspikes51 09-22-2004 10:51 AM

Hell yeah!!! I'm sure they'll blow us away with the stats. Are those T-tops??? Those lines are sexy!!!

I don't think its T-Top's but it does have a wierd interior.

09-22-2004 11:37 AM

this is old news isnt it? ive seen pictures of this way long ago.. and isnt the g35c considered the american skyline? i think this car is just called GT-R.. not Skyline GT-R.. cuz g35=skyline but not skyline GT-R.. there is not more Skyline GT-R.. get it?? haha

MSD 09-22-2004 07:26 PM

I think it would look better with the center of the hood raised and the grille forward a bit, like the old Skylines had. It would give the fron end a bit more definition instead of the unimpressive hood lines and bland, blank grille.

They also need to replace the front Nissan logo with the GT-R emblem.
