Trans-Atlantic crossing by boat?
I was wondering if any of the bright TFPers know if it's possible to hitch a ride on a cargo ship or something, across the Atlantic. I've always wanted to make the trip, but not on a QEII cruise-type of thing...
Or, do you know if it's difficult to obtain temporary employment on a ship, swabbing the decks, so to speak? And I had it in my head that it'd take three weeks. Does that sound right? And no, I am not looking to hook up with gay russian sailors, thank you for asking. |
Sounds like an interesting idea I might have to try that someday.
Sorry I have no information to pass on about the possibility of hitching a ride, good luck and keep us posted on what happens. Only a Canadian would mention gay Russian soldiers nice job. |
My friend used to work on a cruise ship and he got to visit alot of places like alaska and hawaii and japan. He said it sucked...you have to get trained for alot of stuff, including fire safety, lifeguard stuff. Plus he said it was way too many hours...but if you like to travel.

If you sneak in and you're found in the middle of the Atlantic, they might just leave you off in the Azores or something.
