Oil Stains on the Driveway...

My girlfriend has a very leaky car... There are some giant oil stains on the driveway and I wanted to get feedback from y'all on how to get these up... These stains have been setting in for a couple months now.

What has worked for you?

Surprisingly enough, I didn't see a thread about this already

First, get a new car.
Second, get a pick and dig up that part of the driveway...all done. Good luck, let me know how you make out.

leave some absorbant (i.e. cat litter) on the stains for like a week. Then sweep it off. Then hose it down and scrub it with dish detergent and water. That usually wrks for me. (my truck drips oil and trans fluid). Or, you could try to get some regular general indistrial solvent. That takes the oil up very quickly. Pour some on, scrub it around a little bit, then either wash it off or let it evaproate. (probably let it evaporate, since its kinda hazardous and doesnt belong in the gutter) by the way, is it an asphalt or concrete driveway?

You can buy engine degreaser which will do a pretty good job - either that or some orange cleaner. Anything which will break up the oil.

If it's an asphalt driveway, you probablly wont be able to make the oil stain dissapear. Asphalt is oil based so those drips really soak in over time. The only real way to get rid of them is to reseal the entire driveway to hide them.

gasoline or kerosene, a good cleaner with a steel brush works too.

You all need to fix your cars so you don't leak oil in the first place. You're killing your engines by letting it continue </hypocrite>

Fix it?!? Hell, that's how I change my oil. Let it leak out, and add more as needed.

At Lowes and Home Depot in the States, they have concrete oil/decreaser/cleaner solutions- in Lowe's it's in the paint section. Just go in and ask.

Even easier I was watching a car show about a year ago and they said to use something like CLR, or just go to your local auto parts store and ask them! Don't forget to tell them its concrete!
