car stereo head unit with line-in for ipod
Guys/gals,
Does ANYONE know if there's just a basic head unit on the market that has a simple jack plug hole in the (preferably) front of the face plate, or round the back even, to just run a wire straight into it from an ipod? Don't need a CD, Don't need a cassette, just want my ipod. I am done trying all the shitty FM transmitters, and the stupid tape deck thing. I remember once thinking "WHY do these bastards not just give us a simple unit that lets us use our ipod easily?" Then about a nanosecond later I realised: "that's cos they wouldn't get to sell us anymore over priced cassette/CD/mp3 incar players. thanks |

Alpine will be releasing a stereo that connects directly to the ipod later this summer. Just put up with your crappy cassette thing until then, and get a new stereo.
check the links from this Google search: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...eo&btnG=Search |

thats the deck I have; 1/8" jack on the front to plug anything into; I bought it to use with my mp3 player but I find that I plug my bass into it too with pretty good results. |

The best bet is to get an pioneer deck that has cd changer capabilities..they make an adapter that converts the cd changer in into 2 rca jacks.....

I have one in my car. I got it for the 100% EXACT same reason...my iPod. 1/8'' jack on front. I love it. It has a flip down single CD too, but I don't ever use that since I have my iPod.
I was going to post a link to mine too, but now that I look at it, the one that 0001 already posted is the one I have Also, the new BMWs have iPod technology integrated right in them. Talk about Apple the sellout...first it was VW, now it's BMW. Last edited by todd; 07-07-2004 at 08:51 PM.. |

I had a Panasonic CD deck that I used to use with my Diamond RIO....yeah..those were the days. Had a 1/8 in the bottom right corner of the faceplate.

Blaupunkt has an adapter that will let you run a 1/8" out the bakc of the headunit to wherever you want. Onky works with their stereos, though. But that way, you can run it directly to your glovecompartment, avoiding unsightly wires everywhere...

Sony has a Plug-in for Aux Input if you have a Sony deck with their "Link" System on most sony decks. The nice thing is that you can also (used to be able) to get TV Tuners for this link system that has name display.
This is probably the best option for Sony decks. |
