Replacement Radio for 96 Taurus?
Hey, i pretty much know nothing about cars but i am hoping someone can help me out. My tape deck in my 96 Ford Taurus is screwed i think, all of my tape converters for my cd player refuse to work in this tape deck. They simply and continually flip from side to side. Anyone know of something i could possibly try to fix this? Is there some website or local place (Minneapolis) i could find a replacement for cheap? In this car the radio is all one piece meaning (as far as i know) that i will have to replace the whole radio/ac/heat panel. Any thoughts?
1996 Ford Taurus v6 (i think, im stupid) 4 dr |
you could put a cd player....they do make dash kits that can convert it to a normal style radio....here are some following salvage yards in your area you might try calling
Pilquist in Stillwater Upull in Rosemount |
i will check it out, i did just double check and it will play regular tapes just not the cd-cassette adapter tapes. Im going to go buy a new one and see if that makes any difference, just to make sure.

Crutchfield sells adapters that replace the oval thing and let you fit a standard head unit, provided that you have the manual climate control (knobs, not the buttons w/ digital temperature readout).

beat me to it:D you are better off to replace the deck and get a whole new after market one....I find the stock decks to be big ugly and underpowered. |
Ah haha I found an example on the net...they aren't cheap by any means :( http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=265-720 but I did find some on ebay for a little cheaper
PS. Anything from 1996-1998 will fit if you want to find and OEM radio on ebay.....hell if you live in minneapolis and you get a radio and the dash kit I could install it for cheap |
HTe conversion kits are ugly as hell. My girlfriend has one and everytime I get into the car it makes me sick. She had a nice looking stero, now a ugly piece of plastic in there. Blech.
I'd get a CD changer to go into the trunk. |
